E90 lowering...
I've got a set (for a while now) of springs waiting to go on the car. I've been trying to get the mechanic next door to where I work to do it, but he's been extremely busy, but he's only gonna charge £80 plus he will do alignment too after.
So I've been getting impatient and making a few calls. Another local Indy wants £250+ vat to fit. No way am I paying that. I take it that's a piss take price? I've not got the time to do it myself, and what with the sensors etc on these I'd be scared to damage anything anyway. What should a typical cost be just for springs? Is there anything to be very careful of when getting them done? Steering angle sensor etc? Ta, Mart |

Be interested to see what you get back Mart as I plan on doing this myself at some stage. Looking in the Haynes manual the difficulty rating for changing the rears gets 5 spanners

Carlos they are eibachs. Didn't fancy going too low with h&r, just a subtle drop for when I get the 19"s on. Think I'll just wait out until tech next door can fit them...
Brian, 5 spanners is beyond me I reckon |

Don't like the 5 spanners either but can't understand why it would be so difficult so I'm interested in what others have to say.

It really is a piece of piss but can be a bit time consuming on your first attempt. Soak everything in plus gas before you start and you won't break anything.
Buy a pair of spring compressors from Halfords, make sure you have very good axle stands and youre away. |

The rears are very easy you just unbolt the lower swing arm bolt behind the hub (outer bolt) and push the swing arm down and the spring comes out. Don't undo the inner swing arm bolts as this will adjust your camber. You don't need spring compressors for the rear.
If you have xenon lights there will be the headlight leveling arm on the left hand side of the car which must also be unbolted from the swing arm. Don't take any notice of the haynes manual and there's a DIY on this site aswell. |

Thanks Will. I'm at work and I've left it in the garage next door. They reckon they might be able to do it today anyway so it will be great if I get back to a lowered car later, fingers crossed....
