To Warm-up or not Warm-up?
Fellas
I have a 6 mile commute to work, so by the time I am in the parking garage, my oil temp just hits 180, I was thinking that I should idle the car for a bit in the morning to warm the engine but the owners manual explicitly states that you should drive immediately and not do the "warm-up". What do you guys think? I'm afraid this may cause big problems in the long run. The funny thing is my old G35 would be at the ideal temp prior to shut off. What gives, is it the turbos?

Don't sit and warm your car at idle, it's pretty bad for it. Just go easy with the throttle until your oil temp gauge moves to around 150 or so. I've got a 1.5 mile commute to work and I just follow the Owner's Manual recommendations for warm up.
Just remember that lots of short trips are very hard on a motor and you need to get out at least once a week and really put some heat and revs into your engine to keep it healthy. AND Should probably change your oil more often.

I said yes only in terms of letting it get warmed up before I get on the turbos. You want to make sure the oil temp is heated enough before you romp on it otherwise you can shorten the lifespan.

That's about the best thing you can do for engines that normally have short operating cycles.

Get Mortis completely warmed up, then spend a Good 20-30 minutes tear assing around some nearby twisties, keeping the RPMs way up. Then a few 0-120mph runs down a couple of local on-ramps, and off to dinner!!!! Repeat on the way home! :rocks:
