389 RWHP / 428 TQ Dyno Results

Hey gang,

Thought I'd post my dyno results from this past weekend.

Current performance mods: Cat less CP-E Downpipes and JB4 chip.

Run 1: E85 mix, map 6
Run 2: E85 mix, map 6, "M" mode
Run 3: E85 mix, map 7, "M" mode -- not enough octane for this map, poor results.

Seems about right for the JB4 with DPs. This motor is pretty awesome. A few supporting mods and 400 whp is very attainable.

Similar peak numbers (yours a bit higher), but a little nicer of a curve than you see on a 135i, I think. Was this done on default map 6 settings? If so, the target boost settings would explain why it's a little different than 135i.

Also, what kind of gas do you get in Toronto? I saw a member on the 135i forum do an E85/93 octane mix, map 7, and got 400+ whp with pretty much just jb4 and downpipes. No meth or anything.

I ran with the default 1M settings for JB4 as seen above. Only diff is I changed open loop mapping to 70 when running the E85 mix. Unfortunately most of my tank was full of Sunoco 93 and I only ran 25% E85 (I was aiming for 40%). If I had a proper mix I could have run map 7 which I strongly believe would put me in low 400 territory. FYI This was done in the US in VA. Back home I only have access to Sunoco/Petro Canada Ultra 94 (True 94 octane like US gas).

Unfortunately, back in Toronto I don't have enough octane at the pumps to run map 6.

Ahh, I see. I have seen 60/40 and 50/50 e85/93 combos and those worked well with map 7. I guess not enough combustibility with only 25% of the E85. It would have definitely put you in the low 400's HP-wise, and would have also given your torque a kick too!

Still, absolutely great numbers. Congrats, sir!

You need to tune for it, to get any gains from it. I was talking with Terry from Burger Tuning before I did anything. But it should be fine, providing you have enough gas (I was aiming for 40/50 mix, I don't know about higher concentrations. I wouldn't run more then 50/50).

Proof that JB4 works well with the 1M!

Great numbers, any runs on standard pump non ethanol you can show? I run a jb4 and love it, the additional stuff it can do(data log, boost gauge, gauge sweep) alone is nearly worth it.

I've been running map 6 with the default settings and it's awesome even without higher octane, I have 93 here in florida, buttery smooth and finds 15psi fast.

The only other run I have is 354 hp / 4xx+ tq. That was JB4 on map 2, no downpipes on a low reading Dynapack dyno (CF1.0).

Yeah I'm pretty sure all that ethanol will kill lots of fuel lines, rails, and injectors...
