Cool can't decide: finalizing order details

i'm about a week away from putting in my order for a new 335i coupe. I just can't seem to make up my mind on coloring and transmission.

for coloring i'm thinking alpine white with the red interior and brushed aluminum trim. I know it looks like crap in most pictures (a little to bright) but it seems in my head like it would look great. are there any general connotations for white colored cars (generally older people, girls, etc?)? i've realized none of my friends have white cars, but i think the 335 looks great in white from what i've seen. i can't make up my mind between the white and a classic metallic silver exterior.

regarding transmission, i'm considering getting a manual, i can drive a manual but i'm not confident with it. i have an automatic now and i'd just like the extra control as well as added fun (most of the time i use the fake manual of with my current steptronic). are bmw manuals and harder or easier to drive than say.. my parents' old beater truck with a 5 speed transmission?

thanks for any advice anyone has!

Alright, another AT vs MT war is about to start. Let me help by starting.

1) Although I'm getting a flashier color (Montego Blue), white is very classy. I generally prefer silver but think the white looks better on the e92. That would be my second color. I also like the red with the white.

2) I'm a MT guy all the way but I heard the AT on this car is pretty good and stacks up very well with the MT. I'm definitely a MT guy as it's second nature for me. I don't even think about shifting. I wouldn't want to get an AT and then wonder what I'm missing. Try to test drive both if at all possible.

I'll just hang out and wait for the fun posts. Please don't dissappoint.

It's not that you didn't or did search for the topic, it's the fact that you are asking questions about personal preferences from total strangers. Go out and look at all the color options and make up your own mind. After all, you're the one that has to live with your choices.

Sorry for the rude posters on here. It is true that no question is just like yours and certainly yours are as legit as anyone elses. Get the silver on red and it will be timeless and never go out of style. Get a manual if you aren't in heavy traffic a lot. IMO BMW has a good manual transmission compared to others. Good luck with your 335.

Remove the skirt and get a damn black car with a MT. And if you don't get the sport package, God help you.

(just adding fuel to the inevitable fire)

This is one of those topics that I've never figured out. It is like asking if I should go with the brown or the black belt today, rare or medium well on the steak?? I understand questions about accessories, but not color combinations.

Take your time. Remember not to rush this, shoot it's a car that you will be driving for atleast a year. Might aswell get one you like.

Ask the CA to help you out in finding pictures, maybe cars on the lot that have certain aspects correct so you can put 2 and 2 together.

haha, well first off there is a connotation that girls drive BMW's especially convertibles. You'll find numerous guys on this board have convertibles so not sure if it matters what others may think.

I personally have a white BMW, never have gotten the "that's a girl car" line. Wouldn't care if I did either. I use to drive a Jetta the well known "girl car".

Again if you want white get it, forget about others. Not to mention white looks better in my eyes than silver.

I would assume a new transmission would be much more smoother etc. I own a step and truthfully think it is great. But if you do get a manual again I would assume it will be great aswell.

it's more that i'm asking if anyone has (a) personal experience with color combinations in person, as not all dealerships have a color combination and they definitely do not look the same online and (b) personal experience being able to compare the bmw manual transmission to say for example a chevy truck's manual.

and from the general response it looks as if most people agree that red leather with aluminum trim doesn't look as terrible in person as in the byo bmw picture...

that picture just makes everything look bright and ugly when combined, but ive seen them both separate in person and it seems as if they'd look good together.

White/Aluminium/Coral Red was my second choice. The combo is awesome with the sport package. Gotta get the sport package. Manual tranny is the only way I'd go, but that's personal preference. It's just fun. If you're going Alum. trim, get the Alum pedals, too. I love my Black Sapphire/Coral Red combo, it just takes alot of attention in regard to keeping it clean. A dirty black car looks like crap where you can kind of get away with a dirty white car. Good luck!

color

I have BS w/RED CORAL and dark wood trim. I think it looks awsome, more lux than the aluminum!

As for the color, I hate white cars because IMHO, they aren't a color. (Exception, pearl and metallic white, which are not an option). I also chose black for my car and am really regretting it because it just is never clean enough for me(end of rant). If you really must have white, go for it. Many like it. I would believe it would also be a PIA to keep clean but not as bad as black. I have the Coral red interior and love it. Also not a fan of Alum trim. The Grey Poplar wood is very dark almost charcoal. I believe it tones down the red interior as compared to alum

Honestly, don't bother with trim options, get the red leather, then get the cheapest trim, then go to the marketplace section, and buy the Carbon Fiber trim inserts

Red+ carbon Fiber = sex.

I agree, the wood trim is more lux, but the Alum gives the car a more spartan look. Hey, we have awesome looking cars!

Yeah... "sorry for the rude posters" who are so fed up with these stupid threads that they could ... let me tell you exactly what you should buy, based upon MY personal tastes. Get a clue.

A browse through the many "color" related exterior and interior photo threads will yeild many "experienced" opinions from those who have every possible combination.

I guess you never ask a friend's opinion on everything. You are so supremely confident that you always do the right thing. Sorry that some guy ruined your day by asking the opinions of others. None of us have "a clue" anyway but you. You know everything and are perfect in every way. God I am so stupid. Feel better?

And if you answer this comment by me, it will be your third look (at least) at a post that you hate.
