Do you have the premium package and/or BMW Assist? I'm not sure but I heard that if you call BMW Assist, they can unlock your car remotely. Someone please confirm this and lets put the options we pay for to good use!

If you have BMW assist, call them and they can unlock your car remotely for you.

What kind of stupid dealer do you have and why would you follow such dumb advice as to keeping yoru extra keys in your glove box! When you get back in your car, take your extra keys out of there!

Confirmed. I was informed upon delivery of my car that I have 4 years of remote unlocking just by calling the 1-800 BMW Assist #

Did you activate it after you got your car? You have to hit the SOS button once and go through a tracking procedure with "Assist" so they can get you in the system. Guess thats what they are doing on the phone with you now.

Yeah, that's the DUMBEST advice I've ever heard. I'd like to know what reason they could possibly give for giving such boneheaded advice like that!

For the same reason they sell xi's in Florida - no idea.

Hope they can get it open for the OP soon!

And here you are, on the forums. How fortuitous.

This is from the BMW roadside assist website:

Your BMW is equipped with an advanced entry system,
which cannot be bypassed by traditional locksmith
methods without significant damage to your vehicle.
BMW encourages you to always carry your spare wallet
key separately from your other keys.

Which is why I ordered a spare "stick" (what the dealer calls the actual key part that fits in the remote). I cut the plastic head down so it fits in my wallet. I tried to get the plastic emergency key but they said they were discontinued for '07. I think the only way in is through BMW. Good luck.

BTW... If you decide to get a spare key you'll need a picture ID and your registration. They have to order it and they do not need to see your key.

IIRC it ran about $46.00.

Murphy's law stipulates that this event will occur under garage enclosure, and if so, you're SOL w/BMW assist.

Big time screw up.

They were supposed to do that and then have you do a courtesy call in to BMW Assist. That's what mine did anyway.
