regular halogen use the 12v batter/alternator power.
Xenon or HID lighting use high voltage to operate, consequently the 12volts DC would need to be changed to 100 volts or so AC. an inverter changes the 12volts DC to 100volts AC etc. transformer changes DC to DC such as 12v to 24v and inverter changes DC to AC or AC to DC. so figure on the HID bulbs... HID wiring harness... HID transformers. usually there is a kit that would have everything except the bulbs to wire HID lights... i've never done it due to various reasons (worthless to me, headlight assy usually isnt built for HID so the output is funky) ppp
