Speed bumps
I was being followed by some twit in a flatulent Subaru tonight.
The residential street we were driving down has 6 speed bumps in about 200 yards. I just drive over them (slowly). The guy behind me was doing the swerve to the gutter routine. How do you guys handle speed bumps?

If traffic permitts one wheel at a time. Going straight over the top, sometimes you can't go slow enough.

AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH.........We live in a "planned community" and speed bumps.....yep, got 'em, hate 'em.
We actually tell people that we live at the 7th speed bump from the entrance. Ugh. |

x2...you know when you're approaching a bump if you're going to clear it or not - 6th sense kicks in, and the ability to judge reasonably. Angleing your approach helps. I go over them very slow of course. I've been very successful and haven't yet miss-judged.

I usally go over em head on. Some times I'll try to find ways around...like in a parking lot...I'll drive away from the bumps instead of over them. Woudn't try the slalom routine tho.

BTW, what would an "unplanned community" be... the wilderness? the wild wild west? Philadelphia?

If there's sufficent room to drive around the speed bump without causing too much of a scene, then I may be inclined to steer clear of it. However in most cases I just drive straight over at a slight angle, aiming for the lowest/flattest section of the bump. If the bump is not flat, then you could possibly scrape something under the center of the car after the front wheels clear. That's happend a few times from under my seat. Feels worse than it actually is, but still gotta be careful.

I make a u-turn and go another way, there is no street I need to go down badly enough to have to deal with these road hazards!

over and angled is within the realm of over the top. I had to do that at work for a couple weeks until I convinced the head of facilities to flatten our bumps.
What I was getting at is the guys that go way into the gutter to avoid the bump as much as possible. Yes, I don't go over them if I don't need to, but when the guy has way more clearance than I do, I find it silly. Even worse is the 4x4s that go to the gutter.
