Alignment at Al's hubcaps vs BMW

Hi guys,

I need to mount some tires on to my car. I know I need an alignment.

I am going to get my tires mounted at Al's hubcaps (and am going to do roadforce). Is it a bad idea to let them alignment my car as well?

They are about 100 buck less then BMW (bmw wants $200). My car is a lease.

Thx

EDITTT:

I am not deciding between BMW, RCT and AL's Hubcaps

Just called both places, For mounting 4 tires, balance and alignment including road force:

-RCT: $190

-AL's Hubcaps: $247

Its all depends on who is doing the alignment and what machines. I prefer the hunters new machines like the hawkeye, I own one and its gotta be the best and i highly recommend it. Make sure they give you a before and after print out with your cars VIN number on it. Also BMW has all the adjustments except front caster I believe, but dont quote me on that. But as long as they have good machines. does not matter if bmw does it or a local shop. I personally hate the stealership.

Al's is expensive to be honest... if you want good work done for less $$, try RCT performance. They are in collegepoint. They do road force balancing and use a hunter hawk eye. The owner is a cool guy.

not sure if Norwalk CT is too far, but I know a great place that does it for about $65.
I highly recommend them, amazing results. I love these guys, not every day you can say you are happy with a place. :-)

+1, plus Ryan gives you a small discount if your balance/align your car at the same time..

I had Al's mount balance and repair a few rims. Great work very fair prices compared to the dealer. Everytime i have been there I always see a bunch of high end cars. I also met a guy that works at Rallye getting his wheels done there. I would recommend it.

i went to rct performance. i think it was $120. no bargain

didn't like ryan. used phrases like "that's just stupid" when i told him my camber was "out" (i meant out of spec, not literally in/out in terms of angle). He was also annoyingly pushy when asking me what specs i want. It's not like he had customers banging down his door. No one came by for the entire half hour i was waiting...

overall, he came off as a little dickhead with napoleon syndrome.

alignment came out perfect though.

Al's hubcap is highly recommended on infiniti g35/g37 forums. I have personally never used them but they seem very reputable. for whatever it's worth, I think he is also a vendor on g35driver

+100000

I've dealt with Ryan for YEARS. He talks like he's the all-knowing God of cars. As much as I tried to look past his attitude and slick remarks, I finally went somewhere else after he blew the tranny on another car of mine and wouldn't admit his fault. I could have taken him to court but didn't wanna be bothered. Truth is, if your not spending ALL your money at RCT, he acts like he doesn't have time for you.

Glad he never touched my 335...

I will say he does DECENT work though, I thought he did GREAT work until he blew my transmission...

I don't go to RCT but would like to hear the story about your tranny, if you don't mind sharing...

Make a long story short, since I don't want to Thread-Jack the OP.

I had a Scion tC back in 05, it was automatic. I did a boat-load of work to the car as far as mods go cosmetically. After getting the car looking pretty, I decided it needed some balls to back up the looks, so I went with a GReddy custom stage 2 turbo from RCT Performance after speaking with Ryan about it. Me and my wife SPECIFICALLY told him we don't want to turbo unless it'll be SAFE for the car. Ryan insisted he's done "plenty of turbo kits" and the car would be fine if kept around 300HP. So I went with it (Dynoed 272 lbs tq) and noticed the car "slipping and redlining" when changing from 3rd to 4th gear. I brought it up to Ryan and he insisted "oh no dot worry, it's not the tranny, it's the tune". My Uncle owns a Lee Myles transmission shop, took it to him, and he told me the tranny was bad. Opened it up, and my torque converter was pretty much melted. Cost me $2500 to replace.

When did new tires mean new alignment unless you're replacing because one of them was damaged due to impact?
