One year, 750 miles...
I'm quickly coming up on the one year mark (May 25th) of my 1M (original owner only put 250 on between May and Feb). I'm still 450 miles away from the 1,200 mile service and with the weather here in Chicago of late, it is not looking good.
Do I 1. Bring it in for the one year free oil change, then do the 1,200 miles when it happens 2. Do everything in my power to get to 1,200 miles If it would stop raining, I could make #2 happen! Help (and no, you can't drive my car).

Given it's spring, I would take it in when you hit 1200. If you were about to store her for winter, I would then say cash in on the 1 year scenario for fresh engine oil. Get driving, I thought I was underutilizing my car with 1,700 miles on the clock!

It takes some serious restraint to have a car like this and not drive it. I dunno if I should commend you for the will power or slap you silly
Life is short, enjoy it! (the car that is, and hence your life )

Now now...
First off, the weather here in Chicago has been pure crap of late. Second off, throw in my travel schedule (I'm not taking the 1M to the airport), and the flu (for five days) and you have the car sitting in the garage. I have a perfectly capable X6 that sits out in the driveway waiting to be used on rainy days (like today, like yesterday, like Saturday,...) and so it gets the nod whenever the weather is at all crappy. Last but not least, I'm not a fan of the clear bra (on cars that is), so those long highway trips probably aren't going to be happening much either. But for you guys, I'll do my best to drive the 1M more

I'm curious what the lowest mileage, privately owned 1M is.
I see a 550 mile one listed in the May Roundel classifieds for $58.5K. There must be a few folks out there that bought and (essentially) parked it. |

I've found the spring in Chicago to be the best in years, not to mention we didn't have a winter this year...
If you are against clear bra (a must IMHO) and you're afraid of road trips/rock chips where do you plan on driving the car? the city streets are far worse than the highways. There are some great roads in Southern Wisconsin that you can easily put 300 miles on in one day and have some fun on....drive that car and enjoy it!

Agreed, Though mine isn't a 1M, though if I had a 1M I'd be driving it everywhere. I've put 16,000 miles on my 135 since October 2011 and enjoyed every single mile. Heck, I get bored, or the urge to drive and just take off and drive. I couldn't sleep friday night, so I got in the car around midnight and took off and drove about a 50 mile loop around my city till about 1am saturday morning! Windows down, sunroof open, music up, just cruising. I love it.

And no, I'm not selling it - I do still love driving it - even if I can barely hit 35
