Check Out My New 335 Project!

I've heard a bunch of people saying that an intake for the 335 is really hard to do since there are 2 pipes for the intake.
Well, I have no idea if this is going to work or not, but this is what I came up with, and it will be fun to see if it will do anything or not.

I found out a while back that the plumbing section in Home Depot is a perfect solution for intake DIYs. The only thing that I'm still figuring out is what to do for a heat shield.

This is just a picture of my idea. The left side is for the intake closest to the firewall the middle is capped off and the right side is for the intake closest to the bumper. The top is of course for the filter.
I'll keep you guys informed. The 1to3 pipe should have pretty good flow so I have a feeling that it will be pretty good.
Let me know what you guys think because I don't know if anyone's done this before and maybe it wasn't beneficial.

Looks interesting. Are the diameters of the oem pipe the same as the DIY ones?

Good luck!

I wonder if you scented the filter if it could be a crapper smell reducer... kinda like a hot air output. lol

You think? Why is that?
The diameters of the pipes are the same as the OEM ones and the air will still run through the intercooler.

I'll post pics after the install.

Well, if your pipe breaks, you can always call your local plumber.

probably beacause the stock intake is already well designed and has a better air flow it's getting brought in through the kidney grills almost ram air like but this is probably just going to be placed in a fairly hot location i just don't see it physically making more power at all.

+1

and the air filter is quiet small. It has to suck in a lot of air, now this small filter will act like a vacuum cleaner, what makes the possibility of an unwanted dirt break-through higher meaning more danger to the turbos and engine.

I wish U good luck, but I wouldn't mess with this concrete setup.

How do you plan on verifying the effects of this intake?

I think its a Great Idea and if it actually does add power then maybe someone will start to make an affordable intake. You never until you try.

I think there's a reason why BMW omitted plumbing supplies from the production model of the 335.

You just took fabricating to one of the lowest levels.

Good luck, I just hope you don't hurt your car or your engine.

It functions like ram air with turbos?????? right, FYI the turbos will demand air as needed, like a vaccum, it sucks as much as it can through the airbox. By deleting that airbox you should cut down lag and gain negligible HP, depending on the placement of the new intake (cone filter). He is on the right track, but that isnt a great location, I've already tackled the 335 airbox delete and found a wonderful place to locate the intake, but ofcourse that is confidential for the most part
