I have been searching for apps like handy light to tether my iPhone 4s to my laptop. Handy Light was an iPhone app that passed the screening of software from the app patrollers at Apple!! Lol They dont like giving FREE shit out to the public. Handy light gives the ability to tether your iPhone. It was quite interestingly masked to hide this applications which to the normal person would be a normal flashlight app but there was a special sequence that had to be pushed to activate the tethering feature. The web suddently blew up with people referring it to other geeks via blogs and texts, and the app was pulled within 10 minutes of its debut!! Those that were lucky to download the app are still using this app free!!! I couldn't find any similar apps like handy lite to this day besides Itether which that also was pulled rather quickly, and it seems Apple wised up to look for these apps. I didn't want to jailbreak my iPhone 4s and get some of the tethering apps available outside the approved APP store and also, as tethering can be traced by the carrier and if caught you will most likely be billed accordingly. I wasnt going to get raped by AT & T with their 60 dollar a month plan to offer tethering and only limits I think 4g of data. What I didnt the most besides the price of $60 per month, is the fact that if you have a grandfathered unlimited plan it will not be honored when you sign on for the tethering. They take that away once you sign onto this because it is deemed a new data plan which supercedes the old plan, which I wasnt having any of that! ( COMPLETE BULLSHIT IMO) As you know that data package can go rather quickly especially when you tether your handy dandy laptop. I found a much cheaper solution. Tether.com offers a ad-hoc connection and tethers the phone and costs only 29.99 for the year. That's $2.50 per month. People with grandfathered unlimited data plans will benefit the most out of this. Now I can get connection anywhere and it's legal, but the best part its CHEAP!! For those that find themselves asking or getting pissed that their laptop has no connectivity when your on the road, this is a no brainer to get especially since its less than a penny a DAY!!! Get the application while it still available as sooner or later apple will find something legally to dismantle this function from Tether.com

or you can just downgrade your phone to 5.0.1 and jailbreak it, and then install the native tether mod from cydia lol

Yeah I could do that but I rather no jailbreak my phone as I have the insurance plan on it...Either way for less than a penny a day I will take it.

lol insurnace has nothing to do with anything all you do is restore your phone through itunes and then reset all settings afterwareds and noone can ever tell that your phone was jailbroken

AT&T will warn you first then switch u to their tethered 4gb plan. Verizon is a little more lenient.

lol I never thought 29.95 was alot of money! But yeah I guess doing it the other way is good but read that going that route the likelihood of carrier finding out is much more than doing it this way. I did my research. Either way its working and after the year is up, I will weigh my options. It is pretty fast considering and it doesnt drop out all that much.

Eric you tried to tether your phone at my showroom with your app and it wasnt all that great of connection. It kept dropping if I remember.

It's the asian way, why buy something u can get for free. We don't believe in IP.

I could jail break your phone for you and when you need to take it off you can just restore it. I'm not worried about my insurance apple is just like BMW if you have a connection you won't get voided

Yeah! Must be the meth fumes making you delirious! For less than a penny a day, guys i am okay with that and my pockets won't feel it. The next couple of times when I take my car out, I won't go WOT and I will have made enough back to get my 30 bucks worth! God people I know jailbreak is an option but this is also a option and it's far from breakin the bank.
