Rocky mountain CCA at HPR

This past weekend I went up to High plains raceway outside Denver. I had a fantastic weekend! There were 6-7 1Ms present. At least three Valencia and three BSM. No white cars surprisingly!

There were plenty of other 1 series cars as well! I got to meet up again with Jason CSU, and big thanks to William for the jack pads and adapter.

For those who have not visited HPR it's a fast track with lots of elevation change! Out of the box I was finding myself hitting nearly 130 at the end of the back straight and reached 135 all day Sunday. I really enjoyed the track. currently in the middle of Kansas for the night but hope to post a few photos soon as well as a couple other shout outs but I need to catch some zzzzzzz

OK... here are the iphone pics...

Seemingly every day we awoke to a bright morning sun...

AT 5:45AM!!!

Rocky Mountain Corner Worker Taxi

Obligatory Buffalo pics

When we arrived at the track on Thursday... Schomp BMW was running a private event.... This E90 M3 sounded awesome running around the track...

We were welcomed by the Schomp BMW personnel.... "we've got helmets... we are giving people a chance to ride and drive different cars around the track... " So I got a chance to pick up the track by first riding with an instructor... and then I took a 335 out for 3-5 quick recon laps..

Saturday morning quickly went from bright sun to...

Saturday night from Boulder Colorado.

We went to the Lazy Dog Bar and Grill http://www.thelazydog.com/ where I ate my first "Dog Bowl"

It took a good review from the waiter... Au Gratin Potatoes.. a layer of Baked beans... a layer of Brisket.... Then BBQ sauce.. with Cold Slaw on top..

It didn't sound right, with hot and cold items... and all in a bowl.. but it sure was terffiic! And filling!

There was definitely some nice hardware at the event... Couldn't stop drooling over this E90 M3

Also note the yellow 1600 coupe in the background

There is a very active contigent of 2002s in the area!

There were several Boss 302s..

I spied the Vorshlag Sticker on this one.... Sent a pic to Terry Fair.... He replied... " hey.. that's UBER tester John Scheier! " Say Hello... and so I did!

This machine was rolling in the instructor group....

but not quick enough to get a point by...

I have more photo to upload as soon as I can find a card reader. Didn't realize my new all in one printer wouldn't allow my comp to use it as a connected hard drive.

As far as boulder is concerned. Very pretty. Lotsa students. Very pricey area from what I hear.

HPR is a fantastic track. Lots of fun, and not too hard on brakes compared to some other tracks in the area. Not to mention its owned by a group and it's not for profit. All the money from events goes back into track and support efforts for it. Lots of fun for the locals especially!

Back to the track....

Sunday morning I wandered across the parking lot and came upon this gorgeous sight.. a VO 1M in the sunlight.

I later met the owner of the car, Kenton, he is part owner of Coos BMW.

Several of the cars in the A group... yes.... that is a 300 M... that's a first for me to see one on track...

Unique livery on this car in the Club race school..

Thanks for the pics Mark. If not for work I would have been in the trailer with the South Dakota Boys. I see you got a picture of Brian driving his dads lightweight.

Maybe I should just put it on my calender for next year already.

Great pics Mark! I'm the one with the blue 135 parked in front and to the right of your car on Saturday. That black 1M of yours is sure nice! Maybe I'll see you out there at the next school.

I was also there this weekend. I was working the corners on Saturday and driving on Sunday.

My brother (who worked the corners on Sunday) and I have some videos we took while volunteering. They are mostly of us driving...

Hey M3 Adjuster

I agree that the RMCBMW people put on a great driving school, and I was happy to see you there (all the way from Texas). I wish I could have spent more time talking cars and club events with you, but I was only there on Saturday (rain day). I started with the Loan Star Chapter back in 1986, so it was good to see your chapter and RMCBMWCCA do things together.

Take care, and will see you soon.

Monte Carlo Blue M3 Convertible.
