Vishnu/FFTEC | 6AT Single Turbo
HOLY SHIT ! ! !
Ok, you heard me right...that's the first thing I said when Shiv took me out for a spin in my new born single turbo E90 335i. Rewind back a week, as most of you guys already know, I rushed the single turbo kit by Vishnu/FFTEC over to LTBMW right before the bimmerfest to have my boys @ LTBMW install the kit but didn't quite have enough time to fine tune the new Vishnu/FFTEC single turbo setup...until today So I took a trip up north watching bunch of cows, few drivers that pissed me off...(that one GTO guy...man...) drove like granny...took me good 6 1/2 hours to get to Nor Cal...it usually takes me 5 hours..or less...I really took it easy. As soon as I arrived at the FFTEC Motorsports, my jaw dropped to the ground completely...first of this shop is huge!! second, 5 335i's and not even sure how many EVOs in house dyno, fabrication, gigantic turbos here and there...SICK! FFTEC Motorsports...shop filled with 9 sec EVOs, 800rwhp Porsche, 3000rwhp 335i...5 of them It's JDM Yo!!! oh wait....oh hi familiar face, you must be that stock turbo 1/4 mile record holder First beast I saw...this thing ran 10.01 sec 1/4 let's say if the driver took a shit before the race, I am sure he could have done 9.99 seriously...that's fast. My E90 trying to make some Japanese friends. Irasaimasaee!!!!~~~~ And you know who this is...First ever 10 second 335i in the world. So Creaminz...did you dyno your car?? well...look here...she is strapped down... Yo Shiv! easy with that finger bro! This is her first time! So the dyno session went smooth and it was success! Right after the dyno session, Shiv & I took the car out for a spin... ...man this is going to be very hard to describe but I have never felt my Performance front seat like today...ever! As the car accelerates my body was just sucked into the seat like I couldn't do chit but keep saying "Holy shit...holy shit...." you know when you are really scared you can't really scream? It was just like that. I got scared on very first pull ! And I have been in some fast cars in my life but this is just whole new level of speed! I was Turbo lag....Turbo lag....turbo....What the fuck is Turbo lag!!? This thing spools up so fast, many of you will disagree but I seriously felt like this single turbo spools faster than my old twin turbo setup! No LAG at all! and I swear I was the one who kept telling people "Oh Vishnu says no lag at all, but that can't be...it's single vs twin...there's gotta be a lag compare to those twin turbo setups." was I wrong...I'm sorry Vishnu...I take that back. I can comfortably say this is the single turbo setup we have all been waiting for...turbo kit/tune by Vishnu/FFTEC is top notch. Amazing group of people working as a team. I am just happy to be able to be part of the N54 history. I mean just look at Shiv's car, 644rwhp, 10.8sec 1/4, how many dyno pulls? how many hard launches? It's just incredible. And I have feeling that my 6AT will comfortably land me in 10's Not going to be easy but from what I felt today, definitely possible. I can't wait to go back up to run 1320 with all those Single Turbo'd 335i...It will be an epic day... Thanks Shiv@Vishnu & Sean@FFTEC for working hard on my car during my visit. You guys ROCK!! Looks sick man congrats, wonder if these singled 335s can take down those evos from a roll.
So how were the dyno numbers? They were probably relatively low considering mustang dynoes read really low, but still. Also howd it handle the shifts?! |

I was excited to see this thread since its the first auto single turbo.
However, i didn't expect much from this thread. He is not FBIS where there is a real review with real pictures and numbers. |

Either way, nice job man but you have your work cut out giving everyone a review since you're one of the first AT single turbos. So lets hear it, I'm waiting to see how the auto holds up before I start thinking about doing this for my xi. |

Hi guys-- I have the dyno numbers at the shop. I'll post them up on Tuesday. The car nearly doubled stock power at 22psi of boost on 91+meth (235whp->462whp) Still think there is some more in it once the rear section of the exhaust is fixed (it currently has two nasty crush bends). Will be re-testing it next week once that is fixed. Two other 6ats will be running and Dynod next week as well. One with the same "small" 58mm turbo. The other with the medium sizes 62mm turbo.
I have some run video of the car being tested. The 6at is holding up very well and the car is very quick between shifts. The only thing we'd like to address is raise the shift point by 300-400rpm which will give us another 25-35whp. That will involve some work but should be doable. I'll post the videos later today. Just recovering from a minor bout of food poisoning Last edited by OpenFlash; 05-27-2012 at 10:25 AM.. |

If you go by dynojet numbers, 2 x 280 brings it to 560whp roughly....
