The Looks, The Stares And The Questions

events that happen to you because of your 1M. Good stuff, uplifting things.
This isn't a competition, just any cool stories no matter how interesting you think they are.

Driving into Prague, I became a sudden rockstar. I've never had so much attention in my life. Kids in the back seats of vehicles around us were crawling over each other to get a look. When I started up my car in the car park of the Hilton, the attendant clapped his hands!

Basically at every gas station throughout Europe, people would come up and chat. Of course, considering my complete lack of German/Czech/Dutch, the conversations did not go very long!

Even back in LA, where expensive cars are a dime a dozen, I still get almost daily stares and thumbs up on the freeway. It's a very entertaining car to drive and I had no idea it would be so popular.

Funny, it's the complete opposite with mine!

I used to drive a Lotus Elise Mk1 and there wasn't a single day that somebody would NOT talk/wave/thumb at me.

I've driven the 1M for about half a year now and I must say I have only met two people to show at least some kind of reaction: One was a biker on a Harley who gave me a thumbs up, the other was a little chat with a fellow M3 at the stop lights.

Nothing else!

Cheers from Mallorca

A dude in an extremely clean E30 M3 pulled up next to me ... gave me a thumbs up and said "Man, I love that car"

I said "Likewise"

I've gotten some thumbs up and chit chats at red lights, but the best one yet was just a few days ago as I am driving through downtown, a guy in an Audi puts his window down and takes his iphone out and starts to record me as I drive around. Turns out we live in the same building, haha

Had an encounter w/ a really nice C6 Z06 yesterday. He tried to get away from me at a metering light, which lead onto the freeway,... but launching a Z06 is a non-trivial skill. So he lit-up the tires a little in first, which allowed me creep up to him,..... and stay there.

Later pulled up next to him and exchanged thumbs-up. I think I surprised him

Reminds me exactly of my ED experience, and had the same thing happen to me in Prague as well! In fact, I saw my car posted on a CZ car forum a few days later. LOL

Interestingly enough, other than Germany where there was little reaction, all other 5 countries I went through caused pretty much a widespread admiration. I attribute that to...a matter of cultural differences

One of my many highlights was driving from CZ to HU on a Wednesday right before the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix (having just attended with the 1M the Nurburgring F1 a week prior). I had broken in the car by then and was going cautiously yet briskly on the highway/autobahn when in front of me was the entire Vodafone McLaren F1 team/personnel (in MB minivans, equipment was in trucks). They were all in the left lane as they too were driving spiritedly, but naturally after seeing me coming, they started pulling to the right. All 9 out of 10 of them that is. The very first guy didn't move an inch, in fact decreased his speed. If this were the US most folks would pass to the right but I was patiently waiting. Just as I began to think the driver must be a dillweed, the rest of the 9 McLaren vans started overpassing me on my right, honking and thumbs upping me as each one rolled on! After the full 'escort' had passed me on the right, the leading van in front of me finally pulled to the right himself, and flashed his blinkers and also thumbed up me as I was went by.

Of course my GF thought we should all pull over so she gets a chance to meet pretty boy Jenson in person...

Here is a smudgy pic as this was the best my passenger could muster.

I had a bus full of uber-hot cheerleaders flashing me their tatas and throwing phone numbers at me just last week.

Wait, that was a dream.

I've had the usual stop light thumbs up and the head turners but the best yet was in a Publix Parking lot. I ran in to get some quick groceries and when i came back out, a silver 135i was parked next to me with a very beautiful brunette middle aged woman leaning on it. She watched me approach my car and when she saw it was mine, she came over with a big smile and told me how much she loved my car and surprisingly she knew exactly what it was. Mine was the first she had seen in person.

People taking pictures at the car parks. Was visiting a customer downtime and a couple of executives in suites was taking a good look at the car and talking a lot. I was a bit embarrassed to go and put the parking ticket in the window...

I get ignored A LOT by E90/92 M3 and 335 owners.

Until you embarrass them by showing them your four pipes in the back? ;-)

Just had some yobbo in an E46 M3 tailgate and then blow past me on US 26 westbound in Portland this morning. I find that a lot of people with late-model pocket rockets tend to do that street-racing crapola around me these days. Same thing happened with a heavily modded 335i last month. I ignore them. That seems to aggro them, horribly.

I haven't had any hot chicks approach me, but my CA met a girl in a bar who had a 1M as her screen-saver. The car seems to be the best/worst wingman ever. It goads douches into contests of manliness, and seems to make lurkers out of women.

I have honestly encountered nothing but love from other M3's and car nuts in general.
