PROcede help.
Okay,
I just got around to reinstalling Procede again tonight. I also uploaded map 1.47 like you asked. Let the car warm up and then drove about 6 miles on the freeway cruising at about 75mph....no problems.... So I get off the freeway and then I go back to the on ramp and started in Sport mode with DTC pushed once. First run to about 120 goes fine... 2nd time (starting from a stand still again) I floored it and between 60-65mph just after the car shifted into 3rd (I didnt use the paddles) I here this clicking/rattling noise from the engine bay(windows down) and at about 75-80mph it goes into limp. No service engine light though. This is the same thing thats happened many times before. If I keep on it till about 110 then the service engine light actually comes on. Now what could the noise be? I always thought it was the sound a turbo puts off but isnt that only with a BOV? Anyways maybe the noise has nothing to do with it but the 1st run I made the noise wasnt there and the car was fine.... I restarted the car and did this a total of 5 times and only the 1st run went well.... Please let me know what you think is going on... Oil temps were 210-230 (I have the oil cooler retrofit). |

If the "service engine" light came on, you should be able to read the code with the Creader. Let me know what it is and i'll tell you where the problem is.

The service engine light didnt come on THIS time. I said that this has happened many times before and in the past when I kept pushing the car the service engine light came on at about 120-130mph at full throttle. The previous code was 0306. Im kind of worried about messing up the car so when the car goes into limp now I just back off.... Before I kept on it because you guys needed a code to diagnose the problem...
Also I have been running the car for over one week now with Procede out trying to replicate the problem (Dustin thought I should be able to reproduce the problem without Procede if the problem was something in the car) and have had no troubles... I have driven it very hard as well as pushing the oil temp as high as 250-260(wasnt easy to get to these temps) and no limp mode/service lights... The car has only had trouble with PROcede installed... Dustin also said since the car is only throwing One code that it seems to be installed correctly. He said if I had a wire crossed or something I would get multiple codes... He even walked me through the install and checked the #s printed on the wires in the harness to make sure I hadnt mixed em up. The vacuum line is not split and is connected tight also...... sigh |

I loaded the stock map like you asked and the car runs fine... I tried to use the "data logging" feature to see if you guys could see what is going wrong.... I saved six different runs. I have emailed them to you... 1-4 are with map 1.47 and 5-6 are with stock map...
anyways whats the next step? |

I have had the same noise with v1.5 and 1.45step. I have heard a similar noise a different car I had before when the BOV wasn't adjusted properly. I wonder if it is our stock valve not being able to hold the extra boost?

Based upon your talks with Dustin, you did the following:
1) Run without the PROcede.... no PO306 code 2) Ran with the PROCede on a stock map... no PO306 3) Ran with the standard map... threw a PO306 code 4) Ran with high octane race gas... still threw a PO306 Is this correct? If so, I think we can rule out knock since that isn't going to happen on race gas. The only thing that is left is a bad plug or ignition coil. I have seen this a couple of times before (both times it turned out to be a plug). Although there is a recall on early batch ignition coils (which only applies to *very* early build cars). shiv |

Yes shiv all of your statements were true... I am going to try the spark plugs first of course(easier and cheaper), and if that doesn't do it I guess ill have to see what a new ignition coil would entail.... now you said there was a recall on some of the coils? how would I find out if mine would be part of that? or is it on a case to case basis?
Ill keep my fingers crossed.. |

OK - I'm watching many of these similar posts with concern as my PROcede arrives Tuesday. Are these engine malfunctions like the one described caused by the new piggyback ECU boosting pattern? It seems that many are being described as unrelated, but they clearly manifest after modding. Is this pure coincidence?? Please explain Shiv.

I have put 6,000 miles on my car using V1.40, V1.45, and V1.45step maps. I have never thrown a code, CEL, or limp mode. I have not had one problem. And this is with some very spirited drving. My feeling on many of these isolated Procede issues is that unless the installation was done incorrectly or there are loose wire connections, it (the Procede) basically works. Now, obviously you can get a bad unit or harness but this would be the exception. I believe many of these problems manifest themselves when the engine is "tweaked" for maximum performance. The marginal OE components (spark plugs, coils, etc.) that would have probably failed in time W/O the Procede come to light quicker. No worries here man. My 2 cents.

was that link meant to suggest that the lack of an oil cooler could be the problem???
If so... I have the Oil Cooler... So its not a oil temp problem/overheating... |
