Shop says my car is overboosting, dont know why?

I have been getting the 1/2 check engine light, and car going into limp home mode. Took it to mechanic and had them tell me my car is "overboosting." He said it would be a lot of electrical checks that could get pricey. Has anyone had this issue before, and if so what fix did you find?
