BMW Maintenance Schedule
I got this through the mail from my dealer today..........
So far, I got a 20,000 miles Oil Service(not 15,000 miles because my car wasn't ready for it yet) and I got the Inspection I(the title says it all - INSPECTION only). Free Maintenance = 2 free oil change(awesome marketing strategy) I still would have bought the car without it. Everything else that broke or failed(just 5-6 things ) was covered under WARRANTY. How much is that extended warranty?

Kevin, I just had my brake pad and rotor changed today and it was 38,000 miles. Check your service indicators. Maybe, I drive in traffic a lot, but it should be done before 50,000 miles

It depends on how you drive. I do mostly highway and it says I won't need it until 60k, that is #1 reason why I bought extended maintenance plan last month for $1k, before it jumped to 1500

I bought the extended maintenance too at $995 eventhough I knew I would have my brake service before 50kmiles. I'll probably need another one by 100kmiles. I think $995 is still a good investment.

Brake jobs are roughly between $450-600 depending on vehicle and which axle it is... by the time the pads need replacement, 9 times out of 10 the rotors are at or below minimum spec somehow as well.. Funny how that works...
I would skip the extended maintenance plan as I dont think its really neccessary.. The extended warranty on the other hand is something i'd push for

Make sure you have them refill the washer fluid while your there.
Actually, the free maintainence makes a bigger difference on the larger cars. My wife will probably get 2 sets of front rotors and pads on her 06 X5 by the end of the free maintainence. I expect that I will probably get at least 1 with the autoxing and driving schools causing a bit more wear on my brakes than the norm. |
