This is my second BMW

With Both I changed first oil change early

Before 7k

Afterwards , if you plan on keeping beyond 100k then double Bmw interval

If not intended in keeping beyond 100k Bmw service is fine

Did you lease or purchase? When I lease, I follow the OE recommendation.

I purchased my BMW and plan to keep it a long time. I do in between oil changes on my own dime. Better safe than sorry.

Another reason I don't recommend buying a used lease vehicle, unless you have good service documentation.

About every 7500. I do one myself without resetting the light and then I let the dealer do the free one when it says it's due.

I change the oil when the oil light comes on telling me to do so (that only has happened once since 2007 -- toward the end of a 1500 mile road trip) or when the light comes on saying it's time for another servicing.

I thought there is a sensor that may adjust the interval depending on the conditions?

change it at about 7500, it ends up eating a quart about every 2500 and when it needs the third qt it gets changed.
