Rearview Mirror Removal

I tried searching the forum and the only one I found is the DIY for the LED clown nose.

Anyone know how to remove the interior rearview mirror? Any additional tips? Other than twisting the base 60 degree clockwise?

I don't want to go hacking the mirror and break any part close to the mirror and possibily the windsheild...

Thanks!

its really really easy. i hit my head against the mirror and it broke off, when i took it to the dealer, attaching it was a peace of cake.

remove the cover that surrounds the back of mirror and the rain sensor (it is basically two pieces and if you pull them apart, they will come off). next step, just crank and turn the base of the mirror either counter clockwise and the mirror will come off. then just remove the cables and you are done.

Thanks nimamilani. Will report back.

The mirror is on its way to me Leo.

I bought the retrofit kit on eBay and provided the seller my VIN number, it seems that the retrofit kit may not work on my car (MY07). The seller then checked again and found one that will fit, this one only comes with homelink (which is the only thing I really wany anyway, and it's $50 cheaper).

Installing it should be easy since I have premium package with the auto-dimming mirror, but we will see.
