Mystery check engine light

I'm driving my 2007 335i to NY when after about 50 miles, the yellow check engine light comes on. Manual says can continue with reduced power. After I stop and get gas, start car and light is out. System check says OK. Continue on with no problem to NY and then drive home. At about the same point on the road (about 300-400 miles later, between Aberdeen and Baltimore), the light comes on again. When I stop about 50 miles later and then restart after about 10 minutes, light is out again and system check again says OK. It's like there's some ray gun out there turning on the light when I pass the same point on I95. ;-)

Note, the HPFP was replaced during the recall.

A couple of questions:

1. Since the light is out and the system check says all OK, would it have stored the failure in the system so the dealer can pull it up?

2. Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Just had my car in for the same symptoms. It would come on after driving the car for a while and then be off next time I started the car only to come back on after I drove some distance. I read the code with my CAN tool and it was a 30FF. My car is under warranty still and the dealer replaced a cracked vacuum canister (one of the two under the hood behind the passenger headlight).

My car has 38K miles and they also replaced the spark plugs but I don't think it was related to the vacuum leak that was causing the code.

Car runs great now, better then when I got a it a few months ago.

Mystery

Thanks.

What throws me is the first time was after driving 70 miles, second time was after a couple hundred miles but both were at the same point in the road.

Reminds me of when I worked for the Army and we were accused of aiming what the newspaper called a ray gun at the Beltway and frying car electronics.
