Removing window glass for inspection
How hard to remove the door glass from an e92?
Tint is too dark so it will fail the state inspection, but window glass is not required to pass. Maybe I'll just unhook the switches first, but I've heard that if they can still see the glass in the door they wiill fail you. |

That's my plan, planning ahead for worst case. Quoted 100 to remove tint. They have been cracking down on shops that "look the other way"

taking window tint off takes aprox 15 seconds and is free.
here in california we have to have a sheriff sign off the un-tinted window, then take it to court and show the ticket signed off... then we go back and re-tint after court

If its anything like the E36 or E46 (and it probably is) it's pretty easy. The "toughest" part is removing the door card. Takes some inspecting to make sure you got all the fasteners. After that there's usually just two bolts that clamp the glass to the regulator. Loosen those and the glass should pull right out.

buy a tint removal liquid from walmart for $4-5. using tint removal and a cutter, you can do it yourself...its very easy. then later on you can get 2 doors tinted again |

Wow, this whole process seems like a pain in the ass... How often do you need an inspection? If you have the money, what better way to waste it than removing and reapplying tint every year...?
I would just remove it and get it redone at a legal percentage, and then leave it alone. Last edited by Bimmerlover76; 06-14-2012 at 02:55 PM.. |
