Hi guys,

I've searched idrive for settings and I've read the owners/operator's manual...

and all it says is press the stalk towards you to activate the windshield and headlight washers.

when i pull the stalk towards me and soak the windshield for 3-4 seconds it doesnt activate the headlight washers...

what am i doing wrong ?

thanks

lol combination lock.

No i didnt have the lights on.

I thought they activated at a predetermined intervals and would also activate with the wipers.

I'll screw around with your recommendations tonight.

thanks for the save guys !

My A4 was like that. If you held it for longer than 3-4 seconds they would activate..

Since you're living in NJ and I doubt you travel on muddy roads, why would you want your headlight washers to activate and spray washer fluid all over your hood anyway?

just making sure they work

nothing like paying 1-2k or being penalized for it when the warranty has expired

Just another place where they CHEAPED out !! A simple switch to allow the driver to wash the headlights when HE/SHE WANTED to would work a lot better than "lights on - squirt - every 5th squirt MAY fire the headlight washer".

Just like the auto dim rear view mirror. Works gr8 if you ALWAYS want it on !!

+1. Actually, it's the only option I regret having. I wanted heated seats and folding rears, so i checked the ZCW box. Problem is the washers invariably activate just after I washed the car and futz up all my hard work. I hate them. If there was a fuse I could pull, I'd kill the damn things.

++1 I wish you could disable them or have some control over when they kick on. The only other option I hate is the rain sensing wipers but at least I can choose not to use them.

Yeah, you could've just bought the items individually. I was going to go with the Cold Weather package but didn't want the washers. Luckily I have a coupe and the seat folds down standard.

I suppose you could locate the wire that powers them and install an inline fuse holder. Take the fuse out and the washers won't spray. Put the fuse back in and they will for the next owner.

Just turn your lights off when you wash your windshield. I hate that fluid running down my car so I turn them off when I spray my windshield.
