E92 is a ticket magnet
Alright, maybe its just my personal opinion but i think a lot of cops have a lot of free time on their hands, besides trying to pick up girls and eating donuts.
So check this out, I drop off my buddy to pick up a couple of slices of pizza at a downtown pizza joint and start making laps around the spot since its in the middle of all these bars/clubs and its almost losing time for most of the places. So I already notice the traffic and couple of paddy wagons ready for any trouble there so Im like play it safe and just circle the place till he comes out. On my second lap, I see my bud come out and i slowly pull over to let him in. Making sure he properly fastens the drink he got into the cup holder, i see these ladies that were passing by gawking at my e92 and one of them says to me "hot ride, i just got the convertible" She's obviously drunk and happened to have have her head in my passengers' side door as she was talking to me. Im thinking to my self, get your head out of my car girl and within seconds i hear this cop come up to me on my side, "can i see your driver's license" Im like you gota be kidding me, next thing, he's issuing me a ticket. He goes ill take it easy on you and wont give you a moving violation. Im like, i have my hazard light on and no where does it say "NO PARKING." Needless to say I put up with his arrogant attitude and eased up on the talk. I am going to see his ass in court and hopefully he shows. I cant stand cops that spit attitude. I honestly thought the first triple digit $ ticket would be on the highway and look, Going 0 MPH and a triple digit ticket. E92 haters i tell ya. Seriously cops sometimes have nothing better to do - literally waited 5 mins in all. Made two rounds while i saw other cars just sitting there. And this chump had to walk a block and a half to specifically give me a ticket. I think a warning would have been ample in the situation. Atleast the pizza was good! Okay im done bitching - but on a more serious note, they really need to put all the taxes we pay to better use. |

i have to say it the other way around, im amazed at how often cops just ignore the fact that i buzzed past them in the opposite direction at ridiculous speeds (w/o radar) normally they would flash their lights or pull me over and give me a warning

Hmm... I guess some cars are clearly more susceptible to attention from police but I haven't found this to be the case with me. Then again, I am coming from a 350z. The BMW has made me want to enjoy the ride more and as a result, I typically don't do things that would augment my chances of getting pulled over. One thing I did that made me feel like less eyes were on me was remove my radar detector (lent it to a friend). He comes back today and I might or might not put it back up... Every time a cop pulls up next to me I feel he/she sees the detector and boils their blood. Any cops on this forum?

not sure where the OP was but a lot of places in downtown chicago don't have parking by them and the cops are crazy on the spot about giving parking tickets. if i'm picking someone up from a place and they're not there yet i'll usually just drive around in the area around the building until they get there. generally a lot of the streets are one way so i'll end up "doing laps" around the spot where i'm waiting to pick them up.

Your an idiot for sterotyping law enforcement officers. It obvious by your tone that you are the obnoxious sterotyped BMW owner that gives us all a bad name. You would be the first to cry for the police if someone keyed your car.

They should be catching racers in highway rather than setting speed traps in non-school zones and non-residential areas out of no where except the speed limit is 50km/h. They just want the easy way out by collecting taxes rather than do the "real" duty of a cop, like catching crooks and catch the people who are causing trouble on the streets with modified cars.

Ah, I misunderstood. I was thinking like something from American Graffiti was back in vogue.

i dont think it has to do with your car as much as the copes having nothing to do.
also you should be hoping the cop wont show up, coz if he does you most likely WILL lose the case |

If I were you and you have the time, I would go to court and tear the cop in pieces in the witness stand. They should be better off catching "real" crooks and street racers than sitting in the parking lot eating dognuts.

Great story, but a little frustrating to read. You had left out the most important part of the story: what the ticket was for...
So it was for cruising? I've seen some places that don't allow you to do that, but I've always thought that's dumb. It's a free country, shouldn't we be able to move about freely on public places as long as we're not hurting anyone or anything (well, going the speed limit and obeying other safety laws)... is the law even constitutional? Make sure you go read up on how to beat a ticket...
