L.A. Area Oil Change

Hi, I'm a noob e92 owner.
I'm trying get my break-in oil change. Beverly Hills BMW quoted me $176 for an in-between oil/filter change.
Does anyone know of cheaper places or BMW specialty shops around LA? Or is that about the right price?
Thanks in advance.

That is a lot. I paid $100 for it at Center BMW in Sherman Oaks. It was about $60 in material and $40 in labor. Had it changed at 1200 and 6500. Next one will be free at 15,000.

If you don't want to spend that much, you can always go to an independence shop like the M Shop in Eagle Rock, they change even less than that.

Buy your own oil then go to an independent auto shop. I was charged $20 for an oil change. That's probably your cheapest route if you're not going to do it yourself, like my lazy ass.

Do you know the spec on the filter that goes with the oil? Makes no sense just to replace the oil but use the same filter, IMO. Thanks.

You can go to the dealership or call them and ask to talk to the service department and ask.

I'd do it myself, but there is no working on cars allowed at my condo. The management is strict as well, gives ticket for $100..so it's not even worth it.

Thanks Kujo!

We charge $70.00 oil, filter, and labor plus tax for the service. So far we've done five 335i models doing an in between oil changes and 3 of them are E90post.com board members!

Call me at 323-257-5773 if you want to make an appointment. Sorry no walk-ins. We are slammed with work during the summer.

^That's going to be a far drive. Their shop is in Eagle Rock. You're basically driving up to Los Angeles.

Just change it on the road.
Costs about $48 for oil and filter and about 15 minutes of your time.
Its a piece of cake.

And another 15 minutes to take the oil to a local parts shop.

What does the OBD reader has to do with an oil change?

This thing is only good to read codes when your CEL pops up.

I tried to schedule a break-in oil change there and the SA talked me out of it! She told me to save my money and go get a nice dinner.

Hi Jon,
I'm gonna hi-jack my own thread here.
What's your opinion on break-in oil change? Your shop sounds very knowledgeable and would love to hear your opinion on this-

^Why would you want to do that? Just keep it as is and go to the dealership for the free oil changes and have them change for you.

Even at the dealership when I got my oil changes, they didn't reset it.

I recommend it but again it's an option to the customer. I will never say to the customer that "you do need it" since by law I am not allowed to say that.

We also recommend in between oil services but because of the oil conditioner sensor on the engine, everytime you change your oil the mileage service interval goes up... at least thats what I noticed on my 335i. The BMW dealer will only perform the engine oil service when the service indicator says so.
