So hot my mirror fell off :-/

Came out to my car from work to see my rearview mirror dangling from the wires, lovely.

I'm assuming this should be an easy glue back in place fix. Any recommended adhesives to use?

If it matters my windshield is a replacement non-oem from insurance.

Mine "fell"off (my fault). First I tried to fix it myself... That did not end well. I ended up going by a glass place here in town and they cleaned off old glue and put it back on correctly for 5 bucks.

+1 on this. I've never had any luck with the "over the counter" rear view glues. Never had one fall off that the glass shop put on though.

The reason for the difference has nothing to do with the glue. It is simply the fact that the glass place cares enough to prepare the surfaces before gluing. The old glue has to be removed. The glass has to be cleaned of any oil and contaminants. Do this thoroughly, and "over the counter" glue will hold your mirror forever.

A typical consumer (not referring to anyone in particular) just smears the glue over and slaps it in place. That will not hold.

I never had good luck with over the counter adhesives holding for long either.

Like others have said, do yourself a favor and take it to a glass shop and pay the few dollars they will charge you.

95 is hot but if you add humidity then it's brutal. My fast toll device falls off all then time during summer.

Can you take it back to whomever replaced the windshield and ask them to re-affix your mirror correctly?

Any suggestion for adhesives for the side fender badges? I had the 'i' and 's' letters fall of from the '335 is' side fender badges the other day.

+1 on having the pro's do it. Why waste time and money on an OTC adhesive that may or may not work. Get it done right and forget about it.

Breaking 100 Degrees here tomorrow.

ehhhhh... it's really simple...

1) Buy the adhesive kit
2) follow the instructions: Clean the glass... apply glue to the metal tab...
3) tape the metal tab to windshield and let it dry for an hour to be safe... Be sure that the tape applies pressure to the tab...

You guys need an e30 project car or something...

Took it to a local glass place during lunch a few days after this post and they cleaned, prepped, and had it perfectly reattached within 10 minutes for $10. Much easier than dealing with shitty OTC adhesives or trying to clean the surfaces myself lol.
