The non-supercharged RRS looks great but sucks. It's slow, heavy, handles poorly and guzzles gas like a fiend. The supercharged model apparently handles much better and is pretty quick, but I haven't driven it, and it guzzles even more gas. The new X5 is heavier than the old one but more powerful. It'll out-handle the RRS any day of the week and it's likely to be more reliable, but it's still another one of those ridiculous SUVs that represents millions of dollars of investment in defying the laws of physics.

On the plus side for the RRS it does have a better navigation / control panel setup than the X5 and is much better looking.

I'd take a 535xi wagon. More cargo space, faster, more stylish (wagons ARE cool), better fuel economy and far better handling.

the land rover is way better looking than the x5 both inside and out. The X5 has better overall performance

I have the new Range Rover Sport Supercharged. I love it, its fast, handles well, has great electronics, comfortable. Definetly recommend it. Also the new X5 is a great car 4.8 is very fast as well. However as an overall SUV the range supercharged is far superior. But it think it takes nice drive in both to understand where im coming from.

I would take the X5 4.8L anyday over a Range Rover. To me performance matters even when it comes to SUV's and when i look at the 0-62 time X5 is the winner.

Something that big, I'm not too worried about it performing the best. The range rover sport supercharged is by far the best looking SUV on the road. I just wanna look good driving it.

I have to agree that the RR Sport looks hot....but given Land Rover's poor rep for quality and the fact that Ford owns Land Rover, I wouldn't touch the thing with a 10 ft pole.

True but who cares about reliability when it looks so good. more than likely if you spent 70-80k on an SUV its not your only car, and can afford to get it fixed.

i think X5 looks nicer, handles better, and performs better.
if you are gonna off-road, then go for the range rover.
on the other hand everybody and their mama have the X5, if you want to be unique go for the range

Just curious why the MB ML wasn't part of the comparison... For around the same price, you can get a 503hp 0-60 in 4.7 second MONSTER.

its non-stop X5's here. RR are rare compared to the ubiquity of the x5 in the chicagoland area.

was considering getting an X5, but every 4th car i see here seems to be an x5 (plus who could resist an e92?)

Id go with the RR S/C, but a 4.8 x5 would be a close second. Might want to look into a Q7
