first time flooring it today

Reached the break in period milestone yesterday...tried flooring it for the first time ever (even with test car since it was winter at the time) and all I can say is... scary!

Is it normal for the front wheels to feel like they are lifting off the pavement? I wasnt sure if they were losing grip or if this is normal in a fast car with this amount of torque but it just didnt seem stable.

I cant imagine what proceed or TT would feel. I for sure need to get used to this for a while before even thinking about more. It wouldnt even be safe lol...

How fast were you going? It's pretty stable and doesn't feel like the front wheels are lifting off the ground... I start to feel the stability diminish at say roughly 120+ mph and that's just going straight on a slightly windy day / normal weather. And by diminish I mean it begins to feel wobbly.

There's a slight nose-up during launch in 1st gear. Did you turn off your traction control?

if you know how to control RWD car, ya you should turn it off during summer when you want to have fun... i found it that it's best to get rpm to 3-3.5k and drop the clutch in first from a stop...

I don't think that he needs to rev that high with a 335, but that's just my opinion.

yeah i agree with 3-3.5k being too high for a 335i, imo around 2.5k is optimal for a 335i based on the motor's tq curve. but hey, what do i know

Wow, you have a lot of will power. I've definitely floored it once or twice since buying the car this week.

I get mine tomorrow. I'm on the fence about driving it like I stole it. Maybe I'll put like 100 miles on it and then floor it or something. I've read both sides of the story, and I like the hard break in best (cuz I get to make it go weeee!!!)

I know I definately f'ed up the whole break in thing. I wanted to feel that 0-60 thing in a car that could maintain traction. My stang was mad spinny off the line yo! The good news is I still have the stock fuel pump, and I've not been in limp mode yet because of my lack of an oil cooler. I really didn't beat the thing constantly during break-in, and still don't, but 4500 rpm's for 1200 miles? Aint happening!

Believe me, that wait is nothing compare to the wait for your break-in period to be over.

I took liberty to take 5,000km (3,000 miles) to break in the '03 X5, but the power is too intoxicating for the 335i. I was only able to be patient until 500km (300 miles) when I inadvertingly did a hard-break in by flooring-in at 3rd gear.
