tint on rear window issue

My tint on read window is not perfect. The tint does not seems to seal perfectly on the top rear window area where the defrost dots are. I can see some bubbles around the defrost dots. Anyone having the same issue? any solution? Thanks

yeah I have the same issue. All they can do is try to repress it a bit, but there will still be some bubbles/air in there. Unfortunately I didn't realize this "dot matrix" issue until after I got my tint done.

Dot Matrix isn't an issue at all for us- it's child's play!

I've been working the Dot Matrix issue for years. Dot Matrix (enamel paint) is silk-screened onto glass at the manufacturers facility thus explains why sometimes film sticks to it & at other times it does not (& never in the same exact places). Depending on the mixture of enamel, the time of day it was applied (heat conditions) the amount of enamel smeared around on the substrate during the silk-screening process (& other factors) final results vary. The process of applying it is what makes these dots so uneven thus ending with unpredictable results from tinting over it. You are one of many people with the same mysterious result.

However there is no mystery at all. As leading experts in the solar film industry we have developed solutions & techniques to deal with this problem. However in your case, once your windows are tinted & after the adhesive system dries (usually an acrylic-based adhesive) there is no way to re-activate the adhesive to stick it down again.

Yes, applying (sign materials such as black vinyl) is a solution but it’s not transparent unless you go with a perforated type of vinyl. However even then it’s not the same as tint.

There are three solutions to stick these areas however our techniques are confidential. If you are in the Florida area & would like to schedule an auto installations where the dot matrix problem is eliminated then I can help you but the waiting period is rather long (about 6 to 8 weeks pre-scheduling required, on average). We send our installers all over the state to do this type of work; & even overseas!

I got mine tinted, and there is a primer now for dot matrix on windows.

he did mine, and it is flawless...My benz was bad around the DM.

You apply the primer, and wait for 20 min, then tint. I makes it adhere around the DM better.

The primer is a liquid with a sponge brush. I will see if i can find it.

it makes the DM stickier.

I got my tint done at Reeves Import Motorcars in Tampa and the DM was all messed up. I brought it to Formula One in Bradenton. They removed the old tint and installed Pinnacle 35 and it's perfect. I'm really glad I decided to get the old tint removed. I guess some tinters know what they're doing and others don't.

We use neither primer nor glue for permanent factory-like film installs around glass Dot Matrix areas. Our techniques work 100% of the time & should last the entire life of the film’s standard warranty. Does your installer give you a warranty for the film he glued down in the DM area? This is important to know.

Primer or glue, etc. may last for a little while but I’m not certain of its longevity. I’m familiar with your primer solution however to nail it down 100% of the time there's more to it than simply applying a primer. A primer may work sometimes on some cars but not the ideal solution 100% of the time.

We take a more scientific approach dealing with Dot Matrix. We have seen other Solar Film Specialist’s question our methods because they think it’s too complicated but it can be simplified in several stages. Some installers are afraid of taking the risk of learning advanced application procedures (inevitably only offering their customers work based on their present “skill level”) rather than taking a risk to learn a technique that’s best for the car & the life of it’s film.
This is the irony... so as a result we stay on top of our nitch market!
