Traffic Intersection Cameras delete mods

I was sitting at a restaurant and was seated facing an intersection in the evening. Every once in a while there was this flash that lit up the whole area, like a lightening strike. This was happening once every couple minutes and it was disturbing my dinner. I later figured out it was a traffic camera take pictures of those cars still in the intersection when the light turns red.

This little traffic enforcer was making big bucks for the city! I was thinking I saw a spray that was advertised to blur out the plate, maybe in some techy reflecto blindo action. Has anyone tried something like this? BTW, does anyone knows if the camera takes the front only or both front and back of the car?

All of those gimmicks are just that.. gimmicks. Don't waste your money. I actually think Mythbusters did an expose on them too but I don't remember. Let's put it this way, whatever the human eye can see a camera lens can also see.

I think a month back channel 7 eyewitness news did a commentary on the spray. Stated it was legal FOR NOW until legislation gets their paperwork done on this. The news stated people use this spray through the toll roads as the cameras also don't pick it up.

They sprayed a plate then took a picture of it and it actually blurred the images to the point you can only make out half of the plate.

I think I ran one the first day I had my car. I don't think they can read the VIN on the windsheild, can they? I would imagine not, but you never know. Else I have no plates so it doesn't matter.

There are ways you could reflect the light off the plates with a film attuned to that type of lighting. You'd have to get all scientific and engineering, but it'd be worth it if someone could make a real traffic light camera blocker.

I saw the same show and they did the same thing in beating a radar. But I got the distinct impression that they would not and did not show any products that would work. I doubt very much the the police and FBI who help them from time to time would be happy about them showing products that actually work.

I have seen a couple of their shows where they obviously did things to show the myth was not true, even though if they did it another way it would have a different outcome.

It takes a picture of the front of the vehicle, showing the driver (and your girlfriend ) with a closeup of either/both the front and rear plates. Yes, I know. The picture of the driver is what got me out of the ticket (it was my son) The ticket goes to the registered owner of the vehicle.
My other son was getting tickets after his license plates were stolen. Even though he had reported to DMV/local police, they still sent to him. with the picture, including the vehicle, it helped them find the guy who whacked the plates.

A high risk defense for these tickets is when the ticket arrive throw them out. There is no proof you ever receive the ticket unless they send them register mail, and if they do that do not sign for it.

The high risk part of this, is if you ever get pulled over by a real police officer you will probable be arrested. But you can rest assure it will get thrown out since they can not prove you ever were made aware of the tickets.

the spray was on the news not too long ago. people in the bay area are using it so they can use the bridges for free by flying through the fasttrak and carpool lanes. iirc, the california legislature is now trying to ban the spray.

My rear plate is sprayed with the photo blocker stuff. Don't know if it actually works since I always slow down for my local picture stand. My 13 y/o cousin suggested I go faster to see if it works, I then asked if it didn't was he going to pay the $90 fine. He said, please don't try haha.

Slaved-Flash...

It's a flash that responds when it detects a bright flash. Installation could be a trick, but once done and activated you'd be set. All the cameras would pick up is an unrecognizable ball of light!

OR

Makes me wonder....

I think the whole process is triggered by electro-magnetic loops.

I seen other systems that use these loops thrown off by thin metal plates laid on the sensors.

Cheers
