**********s CSL question

For the 19 inch staggered setups, can anyone confirm the wheel weight?

I have had a slight change in plans for new wheels, and would like to go this route assuming the wheel weights are not too bad...

Ron from Mod bargains,

Would you be able to weigh in on the manufacturing (strength, durability, deflection under load, etc.) of the repos vs. an aftermarket wheel like OZ or Enkei?

Well I can't speak about the exact manufacturing of OZ's or Enkei's cause I am not entirely sure. But I do know that they and some of the other big names do use the same factories where the CSL wheels are manufactured. Now OZ has forged wheels as well, I cant compare the two ofcourse.

The CSL wheels have passed JWL, VIA, and ISO-9001:2000 standards to ensure the highest level of safety and quality. That's the one measurment we can attest to with the wheels. As to the quality of the product, we've sold the wheel now for over 2.5 years - specifically the CSL wheel. And have had a countless number of customers - the wheels have held up really well, with some forum members reported to be using them on the track, while others have talked about how the wheels have survived hitting curbs and being in accidents. But realistically, the wheel cant be industructable to curbs and high impacts, no wheel is. Not even an OZ or HRE wheel, if taken in the right angle and the right impact one would have problems.

The CSL Reps are a quality wheel, Velocity has also just joined the forums now to reprsent and field questions, in terms of their company's quality. So hopefully they can chime in as well.

Velocity Motoring's website lists the following:

VB3 Wheel Weights
19x8.5 +40 - 25.7lbs
19x9.5 +22 - 27.5lbs
19x9.5 +45 - 27.0lbs

By the way... is there anyone that has a GOOD picture showing the concavity of this ET30 csl wheel? Im in love with this setup, and I really like the concavity of the ZCP rims (which are only ET27 offset in the rear).

Dare I say I might even try the ZCP rims on my E92...

Do you see a handling / performance increase with 19's?

Or is there perhaps a handling / performance penalty?

Ron,
Thanks for the response. Yes, of course I realize no wheel is going to withstand all impacts. I've had a Fikse get bent in an accident.
I do realize also that I can't compare these reps to forged wheels, but you can't compare the cast OZs or Enkeis to their own forged wheels as well.

I am familiar with ISO9000 specs, because I helped write the Ops for my company. I am not familiar with JWL or VIA. What are they? Is it like TUV?

Thanks for your response and I'm thinking the 18" staggered CSLs will be in my future!

Yeah just like TUV is for Europe, same type of standards. JWL - Japan Light Alloy Wheel - requirment certification from ministry of land infrastucture and transport for all aluminum wheels for passanger vehicles.
VIA- third part entity called Vehicle Inspection association verifies if a product mees the requirments from JWL standards, VIA also passes rigorous quality and strength verification tests.

Thank you for your time and your responses. I will definitely be ordering the CSLs through you in the near future.

Thanks again
