The official New jersey fuel pump thread

I figured i'd start this so we can see how long people are waiting for fuel pumps. I also wanna see if they're telling the truth when they say that ya get them in the order of first come, first serve. So my car went in on 6/30/07 and i have been told at least one month.

My car got to the point where it would barely get moving. I wish i knew that i could have taken it in just for having symptoms. I would've done this long ago.

Fuel Pump for me waiting for authorization from BMW what ever that means.

Are most delers aware of this problem. I called one and he said he had the part in stock......maybe he is talking about the other 335i fuel pump he even went back to the parts desk to check.

The dealer that my car is at said he submits all info to BMW and then gets authorization and should have the part by Monday or Tuesday the latest.....if he just ordered thru parts it would take 2 to 3 weeks....thats what he said?

Are they all just full of it????????????????? Or maybe have not heard of this problem......I find it hard to believe they don't know of the back-order.

That would be great if they do. I'll have my car towed right over there. There's one at the dealer where mine is and it's been there for over a month already.

My car was dropped off at the dealership on 7/10. My ETA is 4-6 weeks. FWIW, my car is at Prestige BMW.

Extended cranking is the symptom my car had. It got bad...to the point where a couple times it took almost 10 seconds of cranking to finally start the car and after that it just idled very strangely.

Ha ha ha, don't worry about it, i rip down that stretch right through the circle all the time. Yeah i had a couple extended cranks, but one day the car just wouldn't start for like ten minutes. I think i had fuel pump denial at first. But you'd better look out now, cuz the only thing more fun than a 335i, is a loaner 335i

Fuel Pump Denial is the BEST description for what I had too. I kept trying to reassure myself that it was "heatsoak"

HELL YEAH. But i've moved beyond that now. Now i have accepted that i have a problem, and i deal with that in therapy. By therapy i mean doing donuts all day in an open road loaner.

my car shudders a lil bit at every start and sometimes while I am sitting at idle the cars gets "jumpy." Like its a bumpy and rough idle or something.

Is that what you guys brought your cars in for?

If bmw told me it would be 6+ weeks to get the new pump, I would seriously consider some lemon law action.
