Procede 335 coupe just back from the strip...
6 speed man. coupe, procede v1.47, 92 oct., stock rft, otherwise stock. DCT button pushed.
Here was my best time out of 5 runs: 60 ft: 2.135 1/8 mi: 8.802 1/4 mi: 13.505 mph: 105.37 We had a slight tail wind and temps were in the low 70's. I was hoping for a little better mph. I did drive the car 1.5 hours and race it 15 min. after I got there. I knew my 60 foots would be junk because of the rft and the track. Opinions? Slow? Fast? Average? To me it seems like a little slower than most peoples times. I'm assuming the cars the mags got to test were a little tuned This isn't really better than they did. BTW The way I have over 100 passes on my old 5 speed supercharged mustang GT so I've shifted a car quickly before. This was my best out of 5 passes on the Bimmer. Maybe I need more passes??? Sorry for the rambling. Looking forward to feedback...Thanks! |

The numbers are.... slow. Weather seems like it was in your favor... I'd have to assume that you were using cheap gas or that the track is horrible. Your 60' isnt all that great, did you spin the wheels off the line? Trap time seems similar to someone that had an AA xede but the track they were at had horrible weather. |

Even with a 2.1 60' time you should be around 13.1@107 to 108 mph
The times you got are slow. At what RPM are shifting?

Before everyone tells him his times are slow, we need to know about the track and what other cars were getting that same day.
Any other stock cars (Mustang GT, 350Z, G35, etc etc) there that same day? What times did they get? Your times could be excellent for that track, it's impossible to say without knowing the track. What kind of drag racing experience do you have also? |

[QUOTE]Before everyone tells him his times are slow, we need to know about the track and what other cars were getting that same day. Well there was either 9 second chevelles there or 16 second neons. Not good comparisons! Quote:
Thanks for the help folks. Maybe some 93 octane Holiday gas would help? |

Please explain, I am not sure if I get it. You buy a 335i, put in a piggyback and then you are thinking about if you should use 91 or 93 octane ? What is the price difference ? I use the highest octane I can get ( not race gas ) since I drive cars and I guess gasoline is much more expensive here. BTW, in Europe 91 US octane is the minimum for the car and 93 octane is recommended ! I use 94-95 octane in my 335i ( Shell V-power 100 ).

Your 60 foot times are actually decent.....
You are trapping low and your E/T is slow..... It looks like you are down on power. Have it dyno'ed and checked out....

Those look like the times of a stock 335i, not PROcede'ed.
In my opinion you need more practice. Also, you should shift at about 6100 rpm. At 6500 you have already lost some power. It's not that easy to get great times with an MT, unless you are an experienced driver. Practice more.

Oh really? What rpm should he shift at?
As far as I remember even Shiv said not to shift at redline.

All I can say is that I'm so very happy I have the 6AT with paddle shifters and my 19" non-rft Mich. PS2 tires. It seems like a 6MT PROcede 335i is just so much more difficult to launch (especially with the oem rft tires), whereas the 6AT is fairly easy. Sorry, unless you're at a high altitude or weather/track conditions are just horrible, your times (including 60' time) are just not great...more like what the car mags got with a stock 335i.
Also, here's a tip -- you'd get better times with non-rft tires.

I would be interested to hear some more info on shift points for optimized performance. Anybody with a manual that has excellent 1/4 mile times wanna chime in? I know you're out there!
I'll never run the Sams Club gas again! Total mistake on my part! I knew that when I went to the strip my times would be slow due to the track and the rft but i'm especially disappointed in the slow mph. I'm thinking the gas is the only variable that could have went wrong. I shifted the car pretty damn fast. But maybe shifted too high. I will be going to import day at Rock Falls in two weeks with some better gas. |
