Astounding Dealer Alignment Estimate!!
Later this week I am adding new 20" wheels and tires so I figured I would get an alignment even though things appear to be fine (tire wear, handling, etc.).
Today I checked with one of my local dealers to see what alignment would run for my 2012 550i M-Sport. Drumroll please...$375!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have owned many luxury sports sedans and many sportscars and have never seen alignment charges like this! I will go to my BMW specialist who will likely charge $150--$200. But $375!! Even in SoCal that is steep! Anyone else experienced such sticker shock? |

The dealer told me it was a "graph" alignment, which is required for the F10. Just insane is what it is! My car is not "xi", "ARS" or "Active Steering" either. I told him that other dealers were charging $150 and he told me he could match it. However, I added that I did not want to price-grind him using another dealer. In any event, it is not a problem as I have an independent dinan performance shop handling the alignment but I do feel bad for the dealer.
