It has been like this for a while, please look at the engine temperature.
My car is at 77000km, only CPO warranty. I am not sure if this is something I should take it under cpo warranty. Last edited by Yvette; 08-08-2012 at 08:55 PM.. |

Were you driving it really hard? If so, then that's normal for an E90 M3. 245F, just driving normally is a tad high. If you weren't driving hard, I'd say you might need to take it in, cuz something is going on with your cooling system. Might have a very pre-mature water pump failure.

A couple of points:
1/ presuming that the retrofitted cluster is working OK, that's an oil temperature and not a coolant temperature. Yes they're related, and the car may be/should be equipped with a heat exchanger, but if the cooling system was working so poorly that the oil temp was that high, I would have thought there would have been some warning lights. Shadow codes should have any serious pump or stat codes logged at the very least. 2/ Has it ever read properly? Do you know the sensor and the cluster are working properly and the number is right? Have you checked with an IR thermometer reading off of the pan? 3/ Do all E9x 335s ever made have oil coolers? I'm new enough to the E9x chassis that I'm not sure. I can't remember if it was E60, E9x or F10 where I remember reading that there are different oil cooler options (including no oil cooler) which varies based on optioning and model year. This would have a bearing on what is "normal". 4/ I would consider it high. You have a warranty - go get it checked. It wouldn't surprise me if you were given a hard time about retrofitting a cluster (and who knows what else) though. |

Completly normal!!!
Look at the scale guys If you look good you'll see that it is running 115C Celsius. Mine runs between 110C and 120C at those temps... It's a bit difficult to read with that M3 style gauges

For a 335i, that is a normal temp - people will have different ranges, but 235-240 (F) is pretty average for normal daily driving.
240(f) = 115.5 (c)
