Need help on E93 hardtop

Just pick up the car three weeks ago and the car has been to the shop twice for window rattle and sqeak repair but problems still there. This noise only happended when the vehicle is cold condition, when the car been under the sun for long period problem went away. This drive me crazy and want to get it fix.
Any one out these has the same problem? Any help & feed back would be greatly appreciated.

I've a few myself and to be honest with you is just part of the quirks of owning a convertible.
I just chalk it up to part of its little charms- the price you pay for having many moving parts- to enjoy thoroughly when the weather is nice

your cars seems very new...i think its some rubber part, which gets stiff in cold.
let the dealership figure it out, its in warranty :-)
if you want to check, let someone else drive your car, sit in the rear seat and try to locate the point of noise.

In my case I slide the back seat compartment all the way open between the two seats. That eliminates one annoying buzzing rattle. The other one is my trunk partition when I run over bumps in te road. The other one is by the passenger door (yet to be determined) and the last one is by the rear driver side window area.
As you can see, I am well acquainted with all of my cars little "charms."
Besides, when I drop the top and turn up the tunes or go WOT I can't hear any one of them!

The was only three weeks old and had less than 1K miles, went out with the shop supervisor twice and he heard the rattle noise but can't get it fix.
They check the rubbers and grease it up and still have not solve the problem, the strange thing is the noise came in at cool temp and under a warm suuny day I can't reproduce the symptom. Looks like I have to pay another visit next week and see what they can do.
Original problem was the latch is not in a proper position and now is getting worse than when I got the car.

When the windows roll down I can't hear rattle and when I went over bump it made a loud clunking noise.

Trunk partition for the clunk- you'll notice when your top is down it doesn't happen
I'm afraid it's nature of the beast sir, at least for that particular annoyance

oh, this is brand new.
i know it can be annoying on a brand new car, but you will have to have some patience with this.
i would suggest talk to the service manager and let them fix if once for all.
or call BMWNA customer service, they will def take your car on priority.

good luck and update us with the status.

I contacted BMW last week and see if the shop is willing to resolve the problem or not then get in touch with BMW for solution. I'm sure my local dealer don't want any trouble when it's come to warranty repair and will you posted.

I started experiencing rattles and squeaks on my E93 for the first time recently too - on the driver's side front.
I decided to grease up all the rubber seals with a heavy dollop of gummy pledge. Seems to have reduced the rattle effect by 90%.

when the top goes up and down it tends to loosen the 2nd portion of the the tops cover, make sure its clipped in on both sides. i pushed mine in and went for a drive and it was gone. but i pulled it up once and i cracked it so i need a new one try it on both sides. to triple check i put tape and taped them down and the Rattle and squeak was history.

Dropped the car off today and the foreman gave me the run around he mentioned that is what you get on a vert rattle & squeaking noise, just have to deal with it. WTF? He told me that there is nothing else he could do to resolve the problem.
They kep the car overnight and see if they can diagnose the problem if not I'm willing to take it to another dealer and see if what they can find.
The thing is bothering me the most is they are not even try to find out what this is the root cause but just blaming on the design. If they don;t fix it right I will have to call BMWNA for help.
The noise is only came in early morning & late evening during the day I can't duplicated the same problem.

Sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with the convertible top. If the rattles go away when it is warm, I suspect it has to do with the top rubber seals. There is a guide on another forum on lubricating the top seals and joints, it might be another thing to try.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=609222

Good luck!

Thts pure BS. This is BMW and that too a brand new.
Mine is doing fine at 60k miles, some mild rattle (occasional) which i will get it fixed if it appears again.
We can think of some noise to be normal just like doors when the cars get old, but not a new one.

Lets see what happens after this service. otherwise you will have following options.

1. Take it to another dealer(if you can).
2. Call BMWNA.
3. Give bad reviews when you receive mail after your service and select the option for BMWNA to call you.

i hope you resolve this soon. pls do update us with the progress.

I did contact BMWNA and had a case open and they are aware of the problem, my SA will pick up the car next week and we will try to trouble shoot what is the root cause.
If they can't solve the problem and I will start the process of buy back from BMWNA.
