GPS Power Cable??
Hey All,
Bought a 5" Garmin GPS for my '08 328i. (Sorry, nothing fancy here.) Got the idea of using some heavy duty Velcro to mount it and it WORKED! I can even pull it off and on with no problems. No holes, no screwing up the dash. Question #1 - "How can I run the power cable, so you can't see it?" Question #1 - "WHERE's the best place to provide power?" (HATE using the cigarette lighter. Tacky. ) Couple of pics to give you an idea. Thanks everyone! |

BMW has an accessory Garmin 3790 gps unit that mounts in center of dash and integrates with audio system.

For my Garmin, I use the suction base, and it sticks to the smooth spot on the center dash.
I run the cable straight back, and tuck it along the dash/windshield, and then down the passenger side. It's a pretty clean install. |

Thanks guys...these ideas are great. Where's the best place to hard wire the GPS so that I don't use the cigarette lighter?? ...or are there multiple options? Thanks! |

Should I run it to the fuse panel?? If so, anything to watch out for and what path can I find to run the wire? (Everything is so concealed in our cars.) Thanks...I appreciated everyone's input. |
