GPS Power Cable??

Hey All,

Bought a 5" Garmin GPS for my '08 328i. (Sorry, nothing fancy here.)

Got the idea of using some heavy duty Velcro to mount it and it WORKED! I can even pull it off and on with no problems. No holes, no screwing up the dash.

Question #1 - "How can I run the power cable, so you can't see it?"

Question #1 - "WHERE's the best place to provide power?" (HATE using the cigarette lighter. Tacky. )

Couple of pics to give you an idea.

Thanks everyone!

BMW has an accessory Garmin 3790 gps unit that mounts in center of dash and integrates with audio system.

For my Garmin, I use the suction base, and it sticks to the smooth spot on the center dash.

I run the cable straight back, and tuck it along the dash/windshield, and then down the passenger side.

It's a pretty clean install.

Thanks guys...these ideas are great.

Where's the best place to hard wire the GPS so that I don't use the cigarette lighter??

...or are there multiple options?

Thanks!

Why not take it to an audio shop. I would not want to say are make a guess with wiring.

look around under your dash until you find the red wire and the black wire, connect it to them. The wires are near the glovebox area.

The car is not a HONDA. I would hate to buy a used BMW that you had owned. you don't go under the dash and start cutting wires.

Yep, that's why I'm asking my fellow BMW brothers. Hoping you guys can clarify where's a "good" spot to hard wire the GPS.

Should I run it to the fuse panel??
If so, anything to watch out for and what path can I find to run the wire? (Everything is so concealed in our cars.)

Thanks...I appreciated everyone's input.
