Big Box in the trunk, that thumps ?
how many of you guys have bass in your cars? do you guys ever get tired of it? i have no switch like most people to turn it on & off can only lower it through the radio.
I have two 12 kickers cvr..when ever i think of getting rid of it & listen to factory speakers/subs it sounds so weird. Just wondering how many of you have had bass in your cars, & if you got rid of it? |

Every car that I have owned has had a nice sound system until I bought my E90. I listen at low volumes now and could careless about upgrading it anyway.

I made the mistake of purchasing 2x 12s back in High School...I literally sold it to a buddy of mine 1 week after. I do not know how people can drive around with 2x 12s thumping loudly.

LOL My charger I just got rid of had 2 12 inch Fi Car Audio subs with a 1200 RMS amp from Sundown Audio and when I traded the car in he told me I could keep the car audio stuff but I let it go in place of my tires and oem rims. I'm glad, there is no way I would want that kind of bass in my 335i

I had two 12's in my e36 and was going to put them in my e92 when I got it, but the logic 7 has been more than enough for me. If I had the base sound system I'd probably consider it though.

HK option is way good enough for me. On previous 2 purchases, I've opted for the audio upgrade. When I had bass, last setup was 12" Orion HCCA and 800 watt Orion monoblock amp. It was fun in it's days, but stock options now.

My first sound system was when I first got my license. It was a 15" Fi Q running off a Sundown 1200D wired to 1 ohm in a custom fabricated 4 cu. ft. ported box @ 32hz. Had that for awhile and bumped around everywhere like the little obnoxious teenager I was; however, I bumped not for attention or to be a cock like most teens, but I truly just enjoyed the bass and was a total bass head. I knew a kid (rode with him a couple times) who would literally turn his system up right before he entered a parking lot or school etc. Awhile later, got a new system. 4 10" SSA Dcons in a 5 cu. ft. ported box tuned to 32hz running off a sundown 1000D at 1 ohm. Both of these systems of course were the days before I drove a BMW. My bimmer has the stock stereo and as much as I love bass, I refuse to ruin this car with a sub box in the trunk system. I have considered upgrading the under the seat subs to SWS-8s or finding an alternative shallow mount, but time will tell. To keep me satisfied for the time being, I purchased a 600-watt 15" home subwoofer so I get my bass desires out at home. |

Id say theres huge room for improvement over the HiFi or L7 but not in the form of trunk rattling bass.
Go read some posts in the audio section, people put together some awesome looking systems that look stock. I am in the middle of mine now and it sounds great. When you do a system in an E90/E92 etc do it for SQ not SPL like this : http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=637056 Total oposite of trunk throbbing setups of high schools past

I dont ever seeing myself getting another system, I think I am finally out of that phase. If the bug comes back I will only get some really nice components. |

For me atleast, in a bmw, i rather have a nice exhaust setup and listen to that. That will probably be my next mod because my brother has a Berk exhaust on his 135i and i just love riding in his car
