Jeezis. E46 IMO. Newer F150's are tanks. 3 BMWs are not really top notch safe until you get to the new 2012 model. I actually started a post a few weeks ago about our laxidasial safety ratings in the E90. Needless to say nobody responded. My wife's Benz W204 2007/8-present C class is much safer. IIHS has realy handy roll over ratings with actual force limits. Puts things in perspective.

At the speeds required to have ripped the car in half like that...there is no surviving in any car...no matter what the safety rating. Human body cannot absorb (what appears to be) a broad-side impact like that - his neck was probably broken instantly. RIP

I don't even understand how a car can be ripped clean in half like that. Very sad to read.

If it really is an e46, then the guy must have been an enthusiast to have such nice wheels.

Very sad news... Honestly, I sometimes find truck drivers (18-wheelers and pickup trucks) drive EXTREMELY recklessly on the road. I am not saying this was the case in this situation but most of my close encounters have been with truck drivers. Dangerous overtakes, excessive lane changing, not using turn signals etc etc.

They just seem to show complete disregard to others on the road since they have the upper hand when it comes to accidents.

This is just what I have personally experienced, and I don't want to be stereotypical of all the truck drivers out there

+1

during the last road trip i took there must have been 3 or 4 different times i was driving in the left lane coming up to an 18 wheeler in the right lane when out of no where the truck just switches lanes to pass someone.. with about 6-10 feet between us. no regard for other drivers.

i think they just don't feel like switching gears to slow down and lose some gas mileage.

really dangerous. had to slam on the brakes every time. if i was looking down at the radio or something even once, there could have been a bad crash
