Marathon or Sunoco gasoline

So I typically use Sunoco gas but a Marathon gas station opened up. Before it was Sunoco or BP in the town I live in and my car ran like shit with BP gas. I ran my tank down as low as I could and put 15.5 gallons of Marathon gas in. My ass dyno says my car feels slightly more sluggish but gets mpg. What to do?

Most people will tell you they like Shell V-Power. There's no Marathon gas stations around my way, but plenty of Sunoco, I've used Sunoco Ultra 93 a good amount of time and it seems fine. I'll go with Shell as my 1st option though.

Shell V is amazing, but I usually fill up with Mobil Premium. Out of your selection, Sunoco

Brands don't matter so much as switching brands every so often.

You should all read this:

I always use Marathon 93 octane. Mostly because I have a marathon credit card and get a good % of money back. And it's right by my house

If you feel a difference between brands of fuels it's in your head. They are all basically the same except for some additives. No way is BP gas worse in terms of energy vs Chevron, Shell, etc.

Thats why I said my ass dyno felt a difference. The only measurable difference is mpg. Marathon is the best and BP is the worst for my car, Sunoco is right in the middle.

I agree Michael. Virtually impossible to compare MPG as well. Most gas come from the same place.

In Canada we do not have the same selection, but not far off, depending where you are in the country.

I tend to go out of my way to get Shell v-power, but in a situation where that is not an option, I use Esso (Exxon/Mobil).

This is what drive my decision...

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

I was surprised BP was not on the list. I just got back from a road trip and filled up in Eastern Ohio and filled up with BP. If I new they were not on the list I would have went to the Sunoco down the road.

Read the info on the site I posted, some basic info and it lists the retailers, sponsoring automakers that demand the level of quality (yup, BMW is on there).

In reality that makes no sense either. The gas is the same as long as the octane is the same. There are way too many variables to make this claim.

But BP killed innocent fish and water creatures!

Srs. I refuse to buy BP gas after their horrible management of the oil spill. Shell is closest anyways.

Sunoco. Very similar to Mobil1 in my ass dyno.
And yes, I can feel the difference in gas. My cars have never liked Shell.

Octane isnt what drives top tier... Its detergents and ability to avoid buildup and gunk, etc... Read the details on the site

Except that the "off brands" in my area are usually 20 cents per gallon cheaper for the same 93 octane. And since I've run 5 Bimmers and a Beemer on it for years with no engine problems, that's a difference my wallet can feel.
