Are the doors, fenders, quarter panels of E90 made out of aluminum or good old fashion steel?

^ e92 front fenders are plastic, e90 is steel. Doors and everything else is a steel alloy.

Hood on e90 is aluminum maybe on e92 as well

But aluminium suspension components are used to keep the 50:50 weight distribution. I've also heard that some fenders are plastic, definitely not the case with my E90...

I dont know a specific compostion. I would assume its a special blend worked out by the engineers. They are very light weight for not being aluminum.

+1...when I first washed my E92 I definitely noticed the plastic fenders and I could recall washing my E90 that definitely had steel fenders...

Looking at the part numbers/descriptions for the OEM replacement panels on my insurance claim itemized list, the fenders, hood, doors, trunk, quarter panels and roof are listed as "High Strength Steel".

Most of it is HSS, which is lighter than 'good old steel' but also much stronger.

Personally, I could give a rats ass whether its steel or plastic. I had a plastic car (Saturn VUE) and it was awesome in that it NEVER had dents. All the underpinnings were the same HSS that other cars use.

BTW, they use different HSS compositions on different parts depending on the energy its supposed to absorb.

As noted the front fenders on the E92/coupe are PLASTIC; the E90/sedan STEEL.

Because you have an E92. E90 is steel, E92 is plastic

suspension components on my 328 are definitely aluminum. All of the control arms are aluminum, in addition to the sway bar end links

Non xDrive models have aluminum front suspension parts. I looked into this when getting my wagon and it states everywhere that the awd gets steel suspension parts.
