Honestly.....are 335i fast with a tune

I've been reading through old threads about running 335i's and i wanted to know are they REALLY as fast as every one claims with a tune. I mean does it really throw you back in your seat.

Yes. Especially with the newer tunes that support E85. If i'm in third gear and accelerate to around 5-6000 RPM then let off the gas the car lurches you forward from the momentum stopping suddenly (with e85).

Nope. Everyone here is actually lying to make people without a tune jealous and spend wasted money on one. We all secretly work for terry and shiv.

Haha that 135 looks like a rocket. Slicks work wonders.

I'd say a 335 with a mild tune is quicker than 80% of anything you'll find on the road. There will always be your AMG's, Vette's, new 5.0's and Porsche's but the N54 is plenty capable and prob more fun to drive than a couple of those I've mentioned.

Edit: not more fun than the Porsche. Don't want to start any arguments.

Alright OP, I only have a jb+ which is only about 120 bucks around here so it is considered a mild tune.

even with just that, the car is a ROCKET. Stock 335i will be significantly faster than 90% of cars on the road... with jb+ alone i probably gained another few %.

so with cobb or jb4, downpipe ect ect it will be a flat out m3 killers. (like sub 4 sec 0-60 or sub 12 sec 1/4 like some of them out there)

that isnt fast for you?

Mine still puts a smile on my face after two years of driving it. That says a lot for me usually I would be looking into my next vehicle after that amount of time....but I'm not.

Agreed.

The 335i is quick for what it is and for the relatively little amount of money it takes to throw a tune on it.

I would describe it as quick. My friends would describe it as fast. But honsetly, the tune makes a big difference and there aren't a ton of cars that can pick up the same amount of hp/tq from just a tune.

Coming from a Supercharged STS-V to my 335 I can tell you I lost some speed. Only 4 days ago I picked up the JB4. On tune 2 This car changes into a different car all together. Dont read into the I can beat a CTS-V or Lambo talk on the lower levels of the tune but do believe the Current batch of muscle 5.0, SS, and SRT8 would now have a serious problem with this little car. The power comes on strong and it holds up to 6200 RPM then I can feel if fall off.

Using crap stuff on my phone to gauge performance, I picked up about 80 horsepower, again based on my phone dyno on tune 2. From 268 to 346 wheel as it states. 30% more power is something you can feel there is no doubt to that. The power to weight ratio changes by that as well going from about 13.5 lbs per horse power to 10.5 you know its there.

So is it fast, I would say in its own right it is, are there cars faster, of course there will always be a faster car. Was I happy coming from a Supercharged v8, to a Tune on a I6. Yes I am.

Give credit where credit is due ! ^ +1

this car is fast, anything below 5 sec is fast in my book... most car manufacturers are shooting for 5-6 sec range for 0-60... and this is 5 years after the E90 was introduced. With a tune ours is in 4 - 5 seconds. (yeah i know hook up will get you below 4).
