depreciated value claim
so i was in a hit and run but i got the guys plate.
after police report and all and contacting his insurance i filing a diminished value claim. it was a sideswipe (rear bumper, fender, driver door, passenger door, sideskirt.) doors have a few tennis ball size dent on them.) i don't know how much i should look at as sufficient and i don't want to be low-balled... as it will be a headache later to sell a accident car... so if anyone has any input i'm open to it, thanks guys

Generally you sue the driver for diminished value after their insurance company pays for your car's damages. I would contact an attorney and go from there.

When my 2006 325 got hit in June last year, we (my attorney and I) sent out a demand for $4,300.00. just for diminished value. I tried handling it myself but State Farm kept low balling me. I let my boss take over and I got more than twice the amount State Farm was wanting to give.
Its not something that happens over night either. I got hit at the end of June and recieved my settlement check I wanna say either September or October for the claim. |

I would start with presenting the diminished value claim to the other driver's insurance company (in addition to the estimate for repairs). You will need supporting documentation for the diminished value. There are online appraisers that will provide you a diminished value assessment for a relatively small fee. I work for an insurance company and have seen this work. There is a decent chance that a carrier will at least increase the offer if you can document your damages for diminution in value.

ya that doesn't sound right, I know plenty of people who got diminished value claims... think its they don't want to pay, but then again I don't know the laws of PA

Some insurance companies, based on policy and fault/no-fault legislation, don't pay for diminished/depreciated value on your vehicle post accident.
However, you can sue the insurer for financial loss you have suffered.
