Evolution Racewerks | looking for N26 downpipe tester
Hey everyone,
BMW just released a new SULEV version of the N20 engine dubbed the N26. Apparently all 328i in CA, MA, NY, NJ, and VT from March are all N26s. Because some of the hardware on the car is different in the N26, we're looking for a local F30 328i tester that is a March 2012 or later production to test our downpips. We'll probably need the car for a day or two but in exchange you get a free set of our downpipes. If interested, please email me at johnzhang@evolutionracewerks.com and we can set something up. Thanks all! |

I would have happily volunteered my car as well. PM me when the system is ready. I have cash burning a hole in my pocket for a nice exhaust for my
M Sport. Don't forget about the M Sport...the bumper / diffuser is different... |

N26 pipe should be done very soon, I was actually the prototype tester. The primary difference between N20 and N26 is that the N20 has a slip on connection between the DP and exhaust while the N26 is V-Band.
The ER pipe is great! I wouldn't have gone with any other option out there.

Yep! A friend of mine uploaded to facebook but it's private. I'll upload to youtube tonight and make a thread, maybe with another video. ER intake + downpipe with stock sport exhaust. In the video you hear a lot more intake sound, the exhaust is pretty docile. Only time you can really tell the exhaust is modified is at cold-start, the car sounds like a diesel!

FYI that only applies to automatics. My 2013 328i, delivered 8/29/12 in MA, is a model "133N", and has the N20 engine, but that's because it has a manual transmission. If you check the 2013 Pricing Guide (effective July 1, 2012) manual transmission (option ZMT) is not available for the 328i SULEV (see page 8 of the pricing guide). The 2013 328i SULEV (with the N26 engine) is a model "133O". At least for now it appears that any 2013 328i's with the 6MT will get the N20 regardless of where the car is purchased (and all 2012 328i's with 6MT also got the N20).

Haha yeah! Only when cold start and at idle, for approx 30 seconds. Hard to explain, I'll post video tonight. Once warm or throttle above 1500 it is silent though. Not sure if any sort of custom exhaust would help - stock muffler is pretty robust. If anything, maybe add a resonator in there. Video later will tell all

I was surprised, Downpipe only did see gains, even without tune! It was to the point that passengers were able to notice. The ER pipe was a great addition, wouldn't go any other way if I were purchasing

Was this a simple bolt on? Does it replace a cat(I am guessing there is more than one) and if so, were you left with a CEL light before you added the tune?

It's a pretty direct bolt on piece taking place of the factory downpipe. Does remove all cats on the vehicle (I'm pretty sure the N20/6 only has one cat) thus a CEL did come on.

You might want to try a "mini cat" O2 sensor adapter from Big Daddies Garage. I used one on my Exige for a while, and it worked. A cheaper "L" shaped O2 sensor extender might be sufficient, but I think the "mini cat" is more likely to work. No affiliation.
