What's brilliant is that they've figured out not just how to mirror the iPhone's display to the iDrive, but to make it appear in the proper aspect ratio AND be controllable using the iDrive knob!
I want this, too! |

That's cool but it's not an iPhone (not a dock connector and interface isn't iOS). Android of some kind probably.

So it's just a connector to show the phone display on the NAV screen for those with pro NAV and control it with the idrive controller, yeah? And the screen is horribly stretched due to the differing aspect ratiosn between the screens. Looks crap tbh.

This should be standard, cars can't keep up with the technology turn over in mobile devices. If you could simply plug in your phone you would have the most up to date technology all the time.

Here goes some info.
Connection : HDMI Control : HDMI CEC iOS or Android HDMI Mirroring is required by OS. In example, iPhone3Gs does not mirror home screen but it does play out video and pictures to HDMI. iDrive integration requires optional B10P module. Price : $250 for H50 HDMI Interface $290 for B10P Another Interface Available from Sep/2012. Although today is Oct 2nd/2012 IDrive integration has some restrictions. They didn't explain. If iDrive integration is NOT required, H50 is enough to play videos. Warning : I don't know screen resolution. Will it accept 720p(HD) or SD? Do we need clumsy branching wires from iDrive to get signal of direction? Or does it receive from the MOST or CAN?

[QUOTE=Elastino;12766439]Here goes some info.
QUOTE] Thanks for the information. I am very interessted in this. Where is the hdmi plug? Do I need to open the console? I think this kind of integration is what BMW should do themself. Everything should be wireless. |

I got a friend of mine to email them about the product. Here's the response:
I received the email regarding F30 mirroring. This unit is mirroring the smart phone screen with idrive (sound&display). If you choose HDMI CVBS, it will show the split screen (OEM screen and phone screen). However, they do not have any experience to put this on US version yet. They said it might work but not sure. A risky proposition indeed. Does anyone know if there is any technological difference between the korean f30 idrive system and the other ones? |

You would have to buy it thru the Korean website. Here's the second email they sent over regarding compatibility:
'To mirror the image, the requirement is CVBS port which is not in OEM F30. Therefore, I gave you wrong info before. I mean you need a display module as well. Then, you can try to mirrow image and also try to hook up iDrive. I think it is better to find this kind of stuff in US. It is too risky to install it.' I think the 'display module' hes referring to is this one: http://indiwork.co.kr/cart/?doc=cart..._id=1347417201 I would def. bring it into a shop (one that pref. is korean) to get this install if you were to take the gamble. |

As I said before, these are just idrive interface boxes which are available from various online sources. They'll appear on ebay sooner or later so no need to hurry.
