uncomfortable seats
I have a 2010 328i x drive that I purchased new. I am not a big guy (5'10"-175) but I find that I'm extremely uncomfortable after long drives. It seems my seats (non-sport) force my shoulders to fold towards the front and there is no support in the middle of my back. Does anyone else notice this? Does anyone have a solution? I've tried varying the back rest and all the usual remedies, to no avail. Please help. I hate to think I'm just getting old.

I find myself constantly moving my seat positions. They're comfortable on short trips but I probably wouldn't want to take it on a long road trip.

I found my seats extremely supportive. I keep my lumbar about medium and thigh support 1 click extended.

Yeah the sport seats are better.
I have normal ones in my car and they're fine for me, I'm not big either at 5'9 150. (I'm 17 ) I like them. You should keep trying to find a good position though, there's not much you can do unless you put in new seats....I hear Recaros are good. |

Your comfort is dependent on your body type. For me sport seats are the worst. I have them on both M3's and also many other non M BMWs. I find the multiple adjustment seats with lumber vertical ajustment as well as the inflation bag to be very comfortable and I drive 12-13 hours on a lot of trips.
Sport seats on the older BMWs up to the E46 were too narrow but the new sport seats in the M3's are much improved but I can't comment on how long they would be comfortable for but the older sport seats would make my legs ache after 4-5 hours of driving... It all depends on your body build.. |

Seating position.
The seats are weird to get use to but I found this helpful video from the AMG driving school that shows you how to position your seat. Now I am much more refreshed after long journeys. |

+1 ^^^ some people dont sit or position themselves correctly for driving. Also, Sport seats are ideal for someone your size. I hate them, but would probably fit better if I lost some weight

i love my sport seats. i drove on several 5-6hr road trips and no problems. I did notice though (for me at least), i like the "back" part of my friend's e90 m3 fabric seats more than mine, but i like my seat bottom more than the e90 m3. the non-m3 sport seats allow more extension for the thigh support... on the m3, i have to pull it out all the way for it to be "ok".

Also, lot of friends don't like the lumbar support yet they thank God for it's invention when we're on long trips. |

Lumbar support makes the difference regardless of sport or non-sport seats especially on longer drives.

I have the sport seats, and I cant get the lumbar far enough away from me! The rest fits me like a glove 5-10 165lbs. Love the adjustable bolsters and leg support but the lumbar is always a pain the back

"get sport seats"......
Great advice. Nothing like a BMW owner spreading advice. The real answer has to lie in the position of the seat and how your in it. My experience with the seat has been very good but lately I have had some Sciatic nerve problems and makes longer trips very uncomfortable. I have to get the pressure off my lower back and been changing my position looking for the right one. Sport vs non is not the issue. Good luck! |

To people complaining about uncomfortability on long trips. Do you stop every few hours to stretch? And after watching the video I posted, do you have proper seating position? The seats were designed to sit and drive in, not lay and drive in.
