Remus Exhaust

I am considering installing Remus rear mufflers with quad pipes on my e92 335. These are TUV approved for the 335 and instalation involves cutting the rear pipes and body panel for the tips, (template supplied). Existing mounts are used. It looks like a good system.
I have noticed that the left OEM muffler has a controlled butterfly valve in the muffler outlet. The right hand muffler does not have this and also it's colour is much darker indicating that more exhaust gas uses this outlet.
I expect the ems closes the left hand outlet at times and exhaust is then via the balance pipe between the mufflers and then out the right pipe. Can anybody confirm if this is correct?
Will installing separate mufflers and disabling the butterfly exhaust valve actuator have an adverse effect on the engine or anything else?

no it wont, check the golf tee mod everyone is doing. It disables the butterfly valve altogether in the stock system. I have it done, no problems. I would however like to see the quad system once you get it installed.

Remus is a big disappoinment to me. The only thing they produced within the first year of the 335i production is an overpriced pair of mufflers? Lazy austrians...

No - search golf tee mod.

Hopefully my quads will be fitted on the car over the weekend.

Love those 230's! Did you just have the stock bumper "cut" for the dual tips?

Sounds great - louder than stock but not too loud! No drone but you can hear the rumble peak at about 2200 rpm. Nothing the radio can't fix and certainly not like the eisenmann race where reports suggest you can't hear the passenger speak! The Remus offer a deeper exhaust note and now my e93 sounds like a sports car (not a race car).

I cut the bumper with a dremel style tool (tiny cutting wheel on a flexible shaft). Was fairly easy - took me about an hour. Used wet and dry sandpaper to finish it off. I had the mufflers installed at an exhaust shop - took them under an hour to cut off the old ones and fit these

Balls.... Big freaking huge balls. I'd never have the guts to take a dremel to my car. I'd fudge that up for sure! Strong work on the tailpipes!

They retail in Oz for $995 each. Would imagine about the same or a little cheaper in Canadian dollars.

Supposed to be supplied with templates - but they weren't there - damn Austrians. I improvised and made my own template.
