Pré-production 1M hood vents

Stumbled across a couple of spy pictures featuring the pré-production 1M in the Summer of 2010 (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...63#post7728963).

Seems that back in those days BMW toyed with the idea to add one or two hood vents to the 1M, or maybe it was merely some camouflage to mislead the onlookers, or a spot on the side of the hood for installing test devices during development (telemetry and camera devices, etc.) ?

Right move for BMW to abandon the idea of hood vents ?

Reflection it seems.

In general not a fan of any openings/vents if they do not serve a functional purpose.

BINGO! Hopefully you feel the same about carbon fiber applications to ones vehicle. I know if it is not truly functional I am not one for it... I am contemplating the trunk spoiler but would definitely have it painted to match the vehicle. I would love your opinion on that

Agreed on the functional part, leave tack on vents to autozone.

I really don't like the cf look either - its why my first question to the lip manufacturers is almost always "will you make a plastic or grp version?"
