Garage List
Dubious it'll be of benefit for the N20. I'd want to see dyno runs first that also compare a stock filter and replacement flat panel filter from the same car on the same day.

There will be a small benefit but it depends how bad the stock one is.

If you wanna make more power get a tune.

Right now I only know of two intake options:

aFe Power has a dyno graph posted, but I'd love to see an independently performed dyno graph. Looks like a great piece, very sleek! More info here -> http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...0L&&brandID=56

Evolution Raceworks has an intake, but not listed on their website yet. I've got this intake on my car and love the piece! Can't speak much about power gains, the article below discusses this though. More info on the F30 dyno test can be found here (good read) -> http://www.europeanautosource.com/co...s-f30-328i-eas

Except that the afe intake will only work (for now at least until they release an updated version) on the N20 engines, not the newer N26 variants. I guess technically you could use it on the N26, but you throw a code. I wonder what code you would throw, if it is something inconsequential, then you could just use the bms can tool to delete the code.

I believe it's just a simple vacuum hose. Should be easy for aFe to integrate N26 compatibility, I'm sure it will happen soon enough. That's not a code you should have to delete, there is an easy & proper fix.
