Adaptive lights. Pretty cool feature.

I just have returned from a friend’s party tonight and finally have seen my adaptive lights in action.

On the way home I need to make 270 degree ramp to get on a highway. I took it many times and typically my lights pointing somewhere into bushes, but today lights stay right on the pavement. Not that a big deal, but kind of nice

I love my adaptive lights. Last weekend I drove back from my farm at night. I took the twisty road through the hills - out in the country, no street lighting, just 90km of glorious, empty winding road through hills, and the lights made it so much easier to see what was on the road and where I was going.

Yeah, I had to drive my dad's Maxima for a few months and I had 'adaptive headlight withdrawal.' It was so hard goin g back to standard lights after driving with adaptive-xenons.

I almost find it a bit distracting, it kind of turns into a make my headlights follow the road video game

neat feature, but i find myself playing around with making the lights turn more than I should

Simple solution: don't do that!

Funny that "adaptive headlights" have been around since the 40's but so rarely used.

PS. I haven't seen them in action, does the outside light at least stay a little straight so you can see the outside of the corner too?

I need these on any car I'm driving at night. I have horrible night blindness which is very common when you are nearsighted.

That is pretty much the same as if you would drive streight. There some illumination of shoulder.

i have a somewhat on topic question.....
If you go into the idrive menu, and the vehicle settings, and the lighting tab, there is a setting for the lights. it says senstive, normal and something else(someone help out here). which setting is "best" and can someone describe the differences....
thanks a lot

It all depends on how often you want your lights turning on automatically. I personally hate when my auto lights turn on when going under bridges, so I have the sensitivity turned lower. I heard that it isn't good for xenons to constantly cycle like that, so that is the reasoning behind that.

lol. same here. I am actually anxious to drive my car at night with the adaptive xenons on. few days ago, it was REALLY foggy. It was indeed fun watching my adaptive xenons moving around. I actually drove around for few minutes around my neighbor.

They have been a bit distracting to me up until now, but tonight I noticed that they were useful, so beyond just looking cool, when I turned a corner and noticed that the lights turned perfectly into it. I guess I will get used to them and not notice their action and complain when I drive cars with normal lights

I think the measure of a good technology is now quickly it seems "normal"

I would love to see this. I always wonder when I am braking how many lights are lit, and what they look like. If anyone finds a link to a video, please post it.

well said. also, remember JamieA, if you find them distracting at some point, you can always turn it on in manual mode and the xenons won't move around.

Hopefully, you get used to it before you get annoyed and decides to give up on it.

I love this feature. I always leave the knob at 'A' and it is really great the way they litup when you start the car. They are like taking a bow before you attack the road! Martial arts style ;-)
