Anybody use CG Lock from Bavarian Autosport

It's just a clip you fasten to your seatbelt to lock the lap-belt portion in place. Only $35, and might help a bit. Any thoughts?

Are they allowed in bmwcca events?

It got a favorable write-up in Roundel a while back so I decided to pick one up to see what all the fuss was about. It's a pretty slick little gadget, but it's a little too finicky (and heavy) to leave on your daily driver.

It does a good job of keeping the belt nice and snug, but I haven't tracked with it. It goes on and off with two allen screws.

By the way, it's not a BA product; they're just a retailer. I don't recall the manufacturer off the top of my head.

yup. it's a pretty nice product. helps keep your butt from sliding around, especially if you have leather seats.

definitely not an alternative to a full harness, though. but it does keep you from fighting from trying to stay in your seat, if you guys know what that sensation feels like around the track.

Yea I'm looking for something I can use with my stock seats. I would love to do a harness/racing seat setup, but the 335 is my daily driver.

Does BMWCCA approve of these for DE? I wonder about PCA?

I'm sure schroth will come out with a clip in harness for the 335 (have them for the e36 and e46) that can be used with the stock seats.

You can use them at track events no prob.

Can't use them in PCA events, and I plan on doing as many of them with my father in law at PCA as with the BMWCCA. Otherwise...I would have been sold on the Schroth 4-pt

I have them. Works nice for everyday driving. I lock in the passenger side to keep it from banging on the side pillars while driving. It's the best alternative to a harness (for the E90) right now.

Schroth quick-fit is in development for E9x. Will certainly be available for next season. I have a CG-lock and used it once or twice. Found that it is heavy and cumbersome to use. Moving the seat back, yanking the belt forward then pulling the seat up (locking the belt) works just as well. Can't wait to put the harness in though

The CG Lock works the same way as the locking clip from a car seat. It is more user friendly and easier to adjust from the looks of it, but it should be at $40 vs. $3 for the metal bar like this one:

You'd have to adjust the belt to the desired tightness, then install this clip which will be a little more hassle than the CG. Combine this with the "moving the seat" trick and I think you'd have the same net effect as the CG Lock, but a fraction of the cost. If it is just something you'll use on occasion until race harness are released, seems like a cheaper solution.....

I have used it many times at BMW CCA events. I like it as an alternative to a harness where there is no other choice.
